I want to take a solo trip

r/

I, 18M, want to go literally anywhere. I don’t care where it is but I want to get away for a little bit from home for a little bit. I don’t have any bad circumstances at home but I think some time by myself will do me some good. The only issue is that I have no idea how to plan this sort of thing especially as I don’t personally have a car and aren’t old enough to rent one. Even if I took a flight somewhere I don’t know what I would do, any advice on how I could do this?

I mean what’s the length of time, what are you interests that would apply to travel. Like are you a backpacking in the mts kind of person, want to be pampered at a resort, need a hotel but open to exploring outdoors, want museums and food and architecture, want to have a spiritual experience, etc? Your question is very large.

Find a place you can afford to go to. Maybe it’s in the same state as you but a few hours away. Maybe it’s a bus or train you take. See if where you land is close enough to a little downtown area where you Uber or walk to. Get a hotel close to all of it. Make sure you have enough money to eat and get back home. Go! Live your life. Even if it’s just two days. Do it once and it will be easier and more exciting next time. Just be sure you tell someone your plan.

Every now and then, I just book a room at a casino resort for a weekend to get away and relax. I enjoy the hot tubs, pool, dining and a little gambling but mostly just relaxation. You don’t have to go far. Check out some casino resorts near you.

if you have no obglitations, have you considered doing seasonal work / work holiday, like working at a ski resort or in a touristy area or something?

Solo trips are awesome! Pick a walkable city with good transit, book a hostel or Airbnb, plan a few chill things parks, museums, local eats. Start small and go for it!
