I was groped in my apartment today by my super. He was here to fix my toilet, but started inquiring about where my boyfriend was which made me uncomfortable. So I lied. I said he was asleep in the other room even though he was at work. I thought he would’ve left me alone after that. But as he was leaving, he pulled me into an unconsenting hug where he grabbed my ass and rubbed himself against me. He whispered in my ear “I love you baby, you’re so sexy.” I completely froze and began to cry and then he just left.
When my boyfriend came home, I told him what happened and he said that we need to report this. But this has never happened to me before so I’m not sure what that would even look like. There were no witnesses. It’s my word against his. And there’s no physical proof of his assault. So again, how can this be legally reported? How can I actually seek justice for what he did to me? He made me feel unsafe in my own home and I want to do something, but I’m not sure what. Google is overwhelming right now. Please someone assist. Thanks.

You can and should report this to the police.
You were the victim of a crime. Report it to the police.
Im sorry this happened to you. I’m a police dept victim advocate. We actually had two cases like this last year – where there were no other witnesses and no video of the incidents. Both resulted in convictions. You should definitely report it to your local police department.
