Hello all, I was visited today by a woman from ReMax saying I was late on my rent payment. She gave me three papers – basically just stating she was there and who she gave the notice to.
I paid Sunday 8/31/2025 but I’m assuming with the holiday it took a few days to post (it posted later on today 9/3/2025) Edit: There is also a seven day grace period anyways.
I brought this to her attention but she didn’t seem to care. I have never been late on rent in my life, she also shrugged this off.
Well that went by, double checked my ReMax account and all was clear. Well then about one hour ago I got an email stating that $50 is due now because they sent that woman out.
I checked the lease agreement and saw nothing states they can/will do this. I sent out an email but they have been slow at emailing back in the past, so I came here.
Is this legal? Does this come off as scammy?
I’m just so confused as to why this is happening.
