Apologies if this is the wrong sub, I don’t post on reddit a lot. I’m in NJ starting a new job in healthcare that requires a background check. For my education, I listed the name the “school” was registered under with the state (MD) as part of a church. My dad ran the church and my mom ran the “school” (and I was the only student) so both operations are defunct. I don’t have a way to contact my mom for a copy of my diploma and it seems I’ve lost my copy in the nine years since I got it. Not sure if this is relevant, but I did attend a year of community college which didn’t come up on the background check since it only asked for completed education.
I got an email from the company saying that they required further proof of my education including a contact name, phone number, and address for the school. What’s my next move here? Is there a way to obtain my diploma through the state of MD and would it happen quickly enough to not jeopardize my employment? Will communicating to them that I was homeschooled be enough and if not what should I do? TIA
