My parents are not religious at all. My mother figured out she was atheist before she met my father. My father began to deconstruct his religion after being in the Navy and meeting my mother. AMA.
I was raised completely non-religious; AMA

Do you have any kind of code of conduct that you live by or come back to from time to time? If so, where did it come from?
Also what’s your favorite condiment?
Same. Once I got older I’ve kinda made up my own governing forces though, universe (physics, in organic things from rocks to the wind to outer space) and then Mother Nature (the spark of life, and with life comes death, it is natural and a certainty)
Did you celebrate any religious holidays or special days?
What religion did your dad practice?
Both my parents were agnostic but allowed me to make my own decisions. My mom even helped me pick out what to research when I started questioning religion (I lived in a small town so there wasnt anything to do other than go to church, even if my parents weren’t pushing me into it)
Do you find that having space to discover religion on your own made you more or less confident in your beliefs?

Do you feel like you “missed out” on anything in childhood? Have you ever had an existential crisis?
Do you sometimes wish your were raised religious? Could you ever see yourself becoming religious? What would the circumstances for that be? Do you think the world would be better if everyone was non-religious?
Have you ever had a spontaneous spiritual experience?
I have no question sadly. And hope im not sticking sometging into a wound you have. But i envy that, i just wish religion wasnt such big deal to my parents and family. Like its the reason we are no contact.
So you think nature created itself?
Same. My parents are non-religious and let me pick my own path growing up. It’s really very freeing.
How do you celebrate holidays that are typically religious in nature?
Both my parents grew up atheists, my dad knows about a lot of religions and taught me about them growing up, I’m still an atheist but fuck does reincarnation sound a lot less awful than.. absolute nothingness
Do you feel like you missed out on anything due to you not having a religious childhood?
Must be nice.
I had to deal with catholic family who sent met to a catholic Italian school run by old Italian nuns!
What would be your advice for somebody who plans to raise his kids completely non-religious? Something to pay attention to in the detail?
Same with you unless my family are actually theists (a ridiculous mix of Christianity and New Age) but we’ve never “went to church”. Anyway, we’re technically Muslims (but my uncle and aunt left it to Christianity) but just don’t follows that religion. I’ve actually BEEN in churches but never as a believer or smth. Only to see the interior or to listen to classical music on a concert. I don’t believe in higher power, but I like religious art
