I was terminated from a City Government Municipality after 18 years without cause in January because the new manager wanted to put his friend in my position. I had 4 months worth of sick time saved up which comes out to about $32k. They wouldn’t pay me out. Is it worth pursuing?

Were you a member of one of the city’s unions?
There’s no state law that requires them to pay it out.
If you are part of a union, have a CBA, are a participant in the KERS system, or they have a written policy that they pay it out, then you may have a case to make.
Review your employment terms and contact the Kentucky Labor Cabinet or if in a union, your union rep.
Talk to q labor lawyer. If You are in Kansas or Missouri, Doyle and Bruce is who I would call. They’re at http://www.kclaw.com
