I worked in a fast food restaurant from 13-16.. We had a war against rude people that they didn’t know they were in.

r/

From 13-14 I worked up front, and I got to experience how rude people are to minimum wage employees. 15 they bring me into the back to be a cook, and I could hear on the intercom when someone in the drive thru would belittle or berate my also young co-workers. We were a group of junior high and high school students, little to no moral compass in the room. One lady in particular was especially egregious(I don’t remember why though).. We all did something to her meal, but one of us wiped the bathroom toilet seat with her burger bun.. I think about this every time I am at a fast food establishment and remind myself to be patient and kind no matter what. We may have the money, but they hold the power.

That’s kinda fucked up but also I’ve worked in several fast food places in my life and more power to you. Some people really are just disgusting sacks of shit.

i’m curious, did you ever do something to the rude peoples family members?? sometimes my dad will be absolutely awful to food service staff, and they clearly get upset and i feel so bad … but also scared they shit in our food LOL

They broke the cardinal rule; “You don’t fuck with the people that handle your food”. No sympathy. Worked food service for a decade, never messed with anyone’s food, but if I was in a position to know whose food to fuck with. Oh baby

When people defend being shitty to waiters or food service workers, they are always told that they are gonna end up eating spit. Their response is always like “well then they should be fired!”

Ummmm… sir you are still eating the toilet seat, right or wrong.

If people can’t bring themselves to be polite out of consideration for others, you think they would do it out of consideration for themselves.

I mean also, be kind to people serving you just because it’s the right thing to make their day a little easier. Smile, crack a joke, speak kindly, take it on the chin or make a kind joke if something goes wrong. Life’s too short to explode because something isn’t perfect – there will always be at least something that isn’t perfect.

I realize the rudeness isn’t actually intended for the poor kid serving you, but they don’t know that, better to walk outside and kick some bricks or something to deal with repressed anger.

And if you do lose it, come back and apologize for being awful and give them a nice tip ($20+). They’ll love you for it and you’ll make their day.

Be kind. Kindness fuels the world.

Years ago my poor old mum used to have rage fits at restaurants. She was fragile so I took her out, it was basically her only time out of the house. I used to cringe when she was bad to service people and go and apologise. I think it was because she was actually in so much pain it driver her mad.

Is it legal for a 13 year old to hold a job ?

My buddy had a friend who worked at KFC. When they got an asshole they would make a special order for them. The cook would take the chicken and wipe it down the crack of his ass first.

Ya pretty sure this goes against child labor laws in many countries. Not the toilet seat bun, the 14 year old employees

I gotta ask where they allow 13-14 year olds to work in food service, because afaik that’s not legal in any jurisdiction in the US and even if it were, no insurance carrier here would cover that?

Always be nice to people. You would be surprised how far it gets you.

I used to run my own appliance servicing company – if you were polite and friendly to me you would get the dishwasher fixed really cheaply or even free sometimes – but if you were rude and entitled it would cost you so much more and ‘im sorry the part is on backorder from the supplier, I will be back in a month’

I’ve worked in the service industry, and I hate rude and entitled people, but fucking with food is beyond the pale.

I hope karma hits you hard.

I remember my first job at 15 was a popular fast food place inside the airport and grown adults would yell at us for missing or being late for their flights all the time when they could of easily just not gotten the food and went straight over to their gate if they didn’t have the time instead of throwing a tantrum and rushing us. I remember one lady purposely opened her drink and just spilled it right in front of me to clean up all because she had to wait in a long line that made her miss her flight but why would you get in a long line when your flight is boarding!????
