IDubbbz was never funny or cool

r/

I often hear from “old idubbbz fans” that he was “so cool before [insert thing he’s done in the last 5 years]” but was he ever really that great in the first place? It was only ever safe edgy shock humour and poop jokes, which I’m not necessarily against per se but it doesn’t exactly make you brave or inspiring.

I long for the day when people will stop posting in this sub about nobodies who they imagine enough people have even heard of to have formed an opinion.

  3. Rainbwned Avatar

What do you define as great? If its being one of the most notable people in Youtube for a time, then yes.

  4. Single_Waltz395 Avatar

Are you an Ethan Klein fan?  Is this what this is really about?

Idubbz sucks and has always sucked.  Agreed.  But nobody today cares about him anymore unless you are an H3 fan crying about Klein’s genocidal Zionism support.

  5. PAguy213 Avatar

Kickstarter crap was a mildly amusing way to waste 20mins. That’s about it

  6. rcdp98 Avatar

I read this as N-Dubz at first and thought this is such an unbelievably British thing to see on this sub

  7. Wrongun25 Avatar

I liked him in my early 20s, when he did the Content Cops and Bad Unboxings and stuff

Im a k-plopz guy. Of course she’s no Organduller. But both of them hold nothing to Yagscrew. I think at the end of the day I’m just really grateful that I can enjoy entertainment without being burdened by narrative, ya know? All that “focusing” and “deducing for myself” is just nasty work.

  9. Aggravating-Mud-2463 Avatar

He was funny before he became a woke asshole

  10. mdmamakesmesmarter99 Avatar

yeah apart from him obsessively ripping on that Leafy kid for having no chin, I never laughed when my friends would throw his videos on

  11. Oliver_Klozoff653 Avatar

    Never heard of him

  12. TinuThomasTrain Avatar

I used to watch iDubbbz, I wasn’t like a huge fan but a lot of kids my age were watching him too so I did as well. It was quite entertaining and dumb humor. I also appreciate that he grew up and disowned everyone who is into what he used to be. He’s not a good dude and he never was, but everyone has to grow up at some point. I feel like at the end of the day, it’s about how your morals and ethics were affected by the way he acted back then. If you’re an incel racist now, then you clearly didn’t learn from him the same way he did himself. I don’t think I’m an incel or a racist, so I think I’m fine and many others as well

  13. SaltEOnyxxu Avatar

Absurdist humour is funny and idubbbz (Ian) no longer does that in any stretch. Some people laughed because they thought it was funny to be racist, most people laughed because we could see the irony in his performance.

    Humour is still subjective.

  14. Technical-Platypus-8 Avatar

YouTuber followers always seem to think these people are famous enough that everyone knows who they are. Keeping up with YouTubers is kind of a niche nerdy thing

  15. finglonger1077 Avatar

For two creators I overall never really enjoyed and pretty much don’t give a crap about, Comedians on Razors getting Crunchwrap Supremes was delicious satire.

That could just be because I hate Jerry that much.

  16. IDKWTFG Avatar

I didn’t like all of his humor like the bad unboxing series but I absolutely loved content cop and Kickstarter crap series back in the day. The way he absolutely imploded leafy was just genius. The keemstar vid is absolutely classic as well. The Full Force documentary was well received even if I was kinda mixed.

I don’t give a flying shit about him changing politics or the “simp gate” controversy which is where most people turned on him, I just feel like he’s lacking focus and all over the place nowadays. The content cop on Ethan is almost completely devoid of humor and just feels like a 1 hour open letter rant. He almost needs some kind of creative management or PR agency so he can direct things into a solid brand again.

He’s also somehow doing a creator’s clash 3 which I’ve almost completely forgotten about despite it being this month. I mean what was that he said about it not being marketed enough?

  17. sal-t_brgr Avatar

I truly loved his playthrough of kerbal space program back in the day. The real fans remember.

  18. BranLD Avatar

I found him somewhat funny back in the day. His more recent work is just kinda bland. And the present stuff is just not something that interests me at all. I am an H3 fan though so take that with a grain of salt. I tend to not engage with the drama online and just watch a show that I like. It’s not worth my time to argue with strangers.

  19. guitarisgod Avatar

His old-school content cops were pretty good

  20. Nem_vagyok_Kover Avatar

IDK man.. Filthy Frank, idubbbz, Maxmoefoe and HowToBasic and Chad was peak content. All of them. Solo or together. Best edgy nosense comedy till this day. It is unremakable nowdays. It was at the right time and at the right place. You could do anything on youtube, and people weren’t that butthurt.

Anything close to it is like eric andré show.

You might not like them. But they are gold. I love them.

  21. Faeddurfrost Avatar

Counter Idubbz was funny but he was never cool.

  22. Undead-D-King Avatar

I was never an Idubbz fan but you could tell he put in effort in to his videos and could clever with his comedy so I got why he was popular but seeing him now its shocking how pathetic he’s become.

Seriously how is someone so whiny, manipulative, pathetic, and hypocritical that they make Ethan Klien look respectable in comparison.

  23. bibbybrinkles Avatar

For those of us who despise sanitized and puritanical crybully culture that has plagued 2013-2025, old idubbbz was great.

I went back and watched a ton of h3 stuff and i tend to agree. this shit didnt age well at all. Meanwhile channels like Jontron aged gracefully imo. His early stuff is still great.

  29. hoopdizzle Avatar

It was over when Sam Hyde made a fool of him in epic, hilarious fashion. Then immediately after he starts the Creator Clash boxing event after the gag where Sam invites him to boxing training under some abandoned bridge and bans him from attending or participating. So cringe.

  30. Exanguish Avatar

He was an edgy racist and how he’s just a terrorist sympathizer.

  31. CapCapital Avatar

While I disagree about the funny part, it’s only mildly. When he was popular I just so happened to be in a phase where internet drama was entertaining to me and for a bit I did appreciate his content cop videos. For nostalgia purposes I tried to rewatch one a few years back and couldnt get more than a few minutes into it, it was so hard to watch.

  32. daylight1943 Avatar

never been a huge idubbz fan but i do get a pretty good chuckle every time i think about the tana mongeau thing

  33. slowkid68 Avatar

He wasn’t cool but he was funny. Old Fan mail, jinx content cop and Kickstarter crap reactions are peak hilarity

  34. GrapefruitFar1242 Avatar

Yeah, dude was a giga racist and was fucking adored by the kind of guys at my school who all became Jan 6 types.

Anyone saying it was just harmless edgy humour are dog whistling.

  35. Ceruleangangbanger Avatar

Yes I thought he was before he met that siren

  36. ConaMoore Avatar

He was different and controversial at a time were others wouldn’t. That was his stick. I won’t lie, he made me laugh on a lot of occasions with Kickstarter Videos and some Content Cop. But I do agree, he’s not a very good personality to have fame, especially with his stupid views.

  37. Ryu_Saki Avatar

I never watched him since I didn’t like his stuff, I was more for Maxmoefoe and Filthy Frank. I did watch their collabs tho, the Cake triology being the best!

  39. smoovelball Avatar

remember when he did his content cops tearing down a whole bunch of creators (usually teenagers/young adults) all while saying every hateful slur in the book for some reason?

  40. smoovelball Avatar

he made the lives of every non white person hell on the internet. i really hate that guy

  41. Nalyd87 Avatar

He was always the weak link of that group.

“The wonderful thing about pickles is that pickles are a wonderful thing”

Best way to melt brain cells high as shit in college, he was a good way to waste 20-30 minutes in college. He was never that deep or suppose to be taken as so.

  43. dominicandrr Avatar

What people find funny is subjective. Fart jokes could be hilarious to some, and cringe to others. I never really watched him, but to my understanding he did a lot of edgy stuff, using slurs and etc. Ok, if people find that funny, that is there sense of humor. And whether someone likes him or not, the dude was very successful as a content creator for quite a while. So it is what it is.

Its kinda like Dane Cook for me. There was a find I found him hilarious. Now I look back and cringe at myself for ever finding him funny. But hey, he was quite successful during his prime and plenty found him funny too. Ok, that is just to each there own.

  44. sigmaoverlord88 Avatar

    Are you Ethan Klein?

  45. FatFarter69 Avatar

I liked his style of humour when I was an edgy teenager myself but now I look back on it and I cringe, I cringe hard.

It’s not funny. The entire joke was “look at me, I’m saying something that’s potentially offensive, aren’t I so funny?”.

It’s aged incredibly poorly but to be fair iDubbbz himself has admitted that and has apologised for a lot of bad stuff he said, and then some very weird people on the internet got mad at him for apologising for saying bad stuff previously, as if taking accountability for your previous actions is a bad thing or something.
