If eight friends went into the desert with supplies during Covid or a pandemic, would they be effectively Covid and virus free after 20 days? Could they live normally?

Assuming no one had contact with the virus or has contact with it on the way to the desert, yeah.
This type of thing happened with some renditions of Big Brother (the reality show) at the time, the time being during lockdown
Yes you can temporarily quarantine a population from a disease like that.
It doesn’t help them when eventually they return to the rest of the world.
Yup. I worked at a camp that basically did this, everyone wore masks and all the stuff was outside for the beginning and we did a lot of testing, and then once we knew no one had covid we were good for the rest of the summer
I’m from Western Australia- you have basically described years of the pandemic for us.
Interested to know why 8 specifically.
Depends if they had social media/news.
Yes. This is common for some isolated groups.
Lets say arctic expedition. After some time the “common cold” types of viruses in the group are all fought out. And people will remain healthy until they come in contact with other group.
Five million people in New Zealand did just that. Locked down for eight weeks and was basically completely open after that.
