    Acting; is lying.

So TV shows and movies would become documentaries.

You can’t even write a fiction story without making things up.

Truthfully I don’t think there would be anything that would fail. All industries would adapt. Would there be a learning curve? Sure. What would happen is transparency and accountability would be less of a problem. Well we would have a huge disparity however between those who are good people and those who are not. Those that let hatred and violence into themselves would be exposed and dashed out. Those who naturally do not want to put effort into their actions and/or want to better themselves we would see those people probably end up in squalor while those that wanted to try and do their best would thrive. There would be a polarization however I think more and more people would be helped than hurt in the long run.

The problem with this premise is that it is assumed that there professions which inherently rely on lying.

This really isn’t true. What would happen is a good number of people who might be considered good at various jobs would not be very good at them anymore

Most of the professions believed to suffer in the face of mandatory honesty would actually thrive according to their intended purpose

Lawyers would be limited to arguing the facts and advocating for their client with no inherent advantage over one another in sophistry or bending truths (to say lawyers make a habit of lying is actually pretty unfair, lawyers that are caught lying go down hard)

Politicians would be a much less flashy job in public service with very shrewd and pragmatic policy proposals. A person can only campaign on popular ideas can only do so with a fundamental belief in that idea a solid plan on how to execute it meaning much better Governance

Sales proposals would always be based on what can deliver the best product while in turn consumer confidence would always be peak

The only reason so many industries are mired with dishonesty is honesty can be driven out. But honesty is the hallmark of quality

That’s why the dishonest try to emulate it

People say lawyers, but lawyers are perhaps the only ones that would keep their jobs, because they know how to functionally lie but technically tell the truth.

Scientists. All most postulate are theories designed to lengthen their tenure. And not worth the paper they were written on. If they only spoke the truth, their theories would be full of “I dont know’s” and half-truths.
