If Japan and Germany won WW2 and annexed all land on earth (basically a Man in High Castle scenario) there’s a small chance that the anti-meridian line would’ve been placed at the Central Asian no man’s land/border between the two megastates.

I believe it was already created, so I’m not sure they would have gone through the effort of redrawing all the maps on earth.
Though…. I guess it would be a cool piece of contraband.
This isn’t a speculation, but there was never an formal decision between the Axis powers, just wishful thinking and generalizations.
An arbitrary straight line was not wanted by some because it broke up existing countries and borders and cut off areas that would have been dependent on each other. A division that followed existing borders and rivers etc would likely have come into greater detail should the war have turned out differently.
On the other hand, the Germans didn’t seem to care much of what happened past the Urals which would have left a massive land mass of the Soviet Union between Germany and Japan.
The Germans plan was to send all the veterans out to the now conquered territory to form farming villages and have basically an army of soldier/farmers on the frontier ready to respond to any incursion from Asia, but again that ended pretty much at the Urals.
Japan probably would have continued what they did with Manchuko of having its citizens leave the dense home islands and settle on the mainland. But again Asia is very big.
Who knows what Italy would have wanted in Asia.
Instead of a fortified border between Japan and Germany running thru Asia, it’s more likely there would have been spheres of influence set up where the middle was central Asian republics resisting both while neither side had any desire or ability to drive that far east/west
I always think…
It’s nearly impossible to post a thread on this subreddit, and this is what makes it through.
lol imagine having to explain your time zone like “oh yeah we’re technically +12 here but the border literally decided it” world maps would be a nightmare and scheduling a call across countries would just be pure chaos
The thought of an anti-meridian slicing through Central Asia has me chuckling. Just think of all those awkward conversations at international summits about who gets to claim which side.
The Nazis would have turned on the Japanese eventually.
This isn’t a shower thought it’s an acid trip
So, if Japan and Germany took over the world, does that mean we’d all be celebrating Oktoberfest with sushi? Talk about a fusion cuisine nightmare.
So we’d basically have an Axis version of the Prime Meridian… wild
I love how you leave Italy out of the conversation of conquering stuff
There was never a scenario where Japan won that war under any circumstance. They knew it. We knew it. It was more like pulling a stubborn weed that killed your friends sometimes.
The world would be a completely different and terrifying place.
Do you really think the end of WW2 in that case wouldn’t lead to another war, Germany vs Japan?
So basically we would all be living on ‘Berlin Time’ or ‘Tokyo Time’ depending on which side of the clock we landed.
Turkey likely would remain independent. Germany and Japan respected Turkey greatly. Turkey was neutral in the war as they recently had lost WW1. Turkey also accepted many Jewish refugees who went on to contribute to sciences there.
I don’t know what would have happened to the middle eastern countries though, maybe they would let Turkey take over the power vacuum there to prevent trouble, given the historical precedence and religious compatibility.
And then Japan would have most of Asia. Don’t know about India, I don’t think Japan would want to try to keep order there.
So overall the border would likely be Germany controls all of Europe, a third state (likely Turkey) controls the Middle East, India remains independent, Japan controls East Asia, the pacific, and SEA.
You don’t get fascists. They’re backstabbing losers. They’re angry that they know they’re losers, so they try to gain validation by taking power violently. Nothing in that description serves any objection to betraying your friends when the time is right. Just look at trump. He has used more people for his own gain than any other US president ever. And I won’t be surprised when Vought and Thiel take power from trump, when he croaks.
