Really feel like we’ve regressed so much today, in terms of politics, cultural media, and hard fought counter culture movements of the 1960’s of which George Carlin was a central part of.

A few years ago my husband went to visit a friend whose wife had left him. He kept the house and she got an apartment. My husband slept on the couch and was given a towel to use as a blanket.
This starts so young.
My ten year old finds me and puts a blanket on me. Every single time.
It’s kinda wild how something like a blanket can say so much about people… and yet we’re still relying on shallow entertainment instead of real talk.

When I first started dating my ex, and before we started sleeping together, he fell asleep on my couch. I covered him with a blanket and went to bed. He thought it was such a sweet thing to do. I thought it was just good manners. We dated for almost 6 years. We broke up but we’re still good friends.

I’m visiting my grandma this week and the first day here I took a nap on the couch uncovered since it was warm outside.
I awoke with a blanket over me.
My cat demands I put a sheet over her before she falls asleep. I have to put a pillow case over her or crawl under the covers with her.
Carlin’s sense of humour was crude and (more than a little) borderline offensive, but I found it genuinely insightful and funny. He poked fun at everyone equally and knew exactly where to draw the line and how much to push it.
I wonder if this is why I feel so much satisfaction from making blankets 🤔

Our Carlin is Bill Burr. He toes the line enough to appeal to menfolk. But he is very awake. On the “right” side of things. Opens minds through humor. They are rare. But we do have one.
