It occurred to me today that having translucent skin would be horrifying, but also that all of us northern Eurasians do indeed have this subsurface feature that is visible through the slightly translucent skin, in color. How freaky is that when you’ve never see it before?

Yes. There are stories of white explorers horrifying people from other areas who hadn’t seen white people before. Caucasians were said to look like dead or sick bodies.
You can see this in modern day too, with children of one race who’ve never seen people of another race. They often react with fear because they have a concept of what a person looks like, and this new person doesn’t match that concept
I’ve had people tell me that I’m the whitest person they’ve ever seen and been bullied for having visible blue veins. I’m not even albino.
Hahahaha I’ve never really thought about it. I’m as white as skim milk (super pale tinged in blue), and I’ve had people fascinated and needing to trace my veins, but I never really thought about their perception of me and my insane paleness
Yeah African uncontacted tribes thought that white people were ghosts.
Lol never thought of it that way, but did freak myself out when I saw my veins on my palm for the first time after washing them with a cold water.
No.
