This is just a question I’ve thought of before. Let’s say it’s a hockey game, and it’s a big bench clearing fight. At what point will it go from part of the game to an active fight where you, as a law enforcement officer, have to intervene?
If you’re working extra duty as security at a sporting event, and a fight happens between the players, when does it become your problem?

When a player is dead
When someone is at risk of serious injury or death.
As a sports official and LEO, there is a line where game misconduct transfers from one to the other. Generally if its between players it will be handled by the officials. When fans enter the field it’s on LE, or if benches clear and neither the officials nor coaches can control it then it can be on LE as well.
What would you even do in that situation? Strap on ice skates and brake it up?
It doesn’t- teams have their own security and coaching staff to deal with those situations.
Unless I’m summoned out there, or there’s something that I perceive could cause great bodily injury or death, I’m not entering the playing field/surface.
