I got a 7-day-ban for threatening violence towards people. It was a response to a gardening post about eradicating pests in my garden with a rifle. I appealed, my bad was lifted.
Has anything like this happened to you?

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.
Yes plenty of times. Angry blue hairs and their deeply misandrist worldview are unfortunately running Reddit.
Garden combined with weaponry. It made me chuckle haha.
It eventually ended.
It is a very, very, frequent occurrence. Can also happen for simply upvoting posts deemed to be threatening violence. First review/ban is AI, appeal is supposed to be human.
I’ve been banned from a community sun for not towing their party line, in a “non-political” sub. Tried to ask for clarification and was basically told to funk off and the mods blocked me.
Yeah, same reason. The OP asked what weapon would change the Earth. I answered as I do, and auto mod bopped me.
I think I got 3 days once from where I don’t remember it was a long time ago.
It’s been happening more and more as Reddit leans more to the left. Unfortunately, opinions can’t be expressed anymore if they are against the mods opinions. Watch this comment get removed.
Plenty of times! I’ve even been permanently banned 3 times, and obviously I’ve been able to successfully appeal the bans each time.
Several times, usually by political/current events subs that don’t tolerate opinions that conflict with their orthodoxy.
Thankfully, it was only a 3-day suspension. I appealed and got it overturned — over a post asking ‘If you got to pick, how would you choose to die?’ My reply was a little bloodthirsty. 18+ 🚫

Recently, it was for a comment I made but I have no idea what the comment was exactly since it was erased. Definitely felt like a Trumptard reported me though.
yep, I got that for wishing ill on notorious convinced murderer and rapists Richard Ramirez. I contested it but apparently Reddit felt it was valid to ban me for saying such a vile thing about such an “upstanding” historical figure of American history.
Then I got my account suspended for basically saying Punisher did nothing wrong. I contested it again and apparently Reddit felt that one might have been too stupid to make stick lol, so I got my account back.
I’m permanently blocked from r/nba for quoting biggie smalls.
I commented about self-defense once and found out anything advocating for fighting is bad, but thankfully just a warning.
Someone asked a question “What would you do if you saw Jesus standing on the side of the road?”
I don’t want to repeat my answer in case I get banned again but I suggested using my car to test his resurrection abilities. You know, to make sure it really is him.
Apparently tankies don’t like it when you ask them which local candidates they support online.
I guess ranting online is considered activism.
I quoted Riley Cooper’s racist quote but replaced the N word with “New York fans”. It was in quotes and was followed by –Riley Cooper
…in the nfc east meme sub.
I got a permanent ban from Reddit on this account for seemingly maybe encouraging someone to kill themselves? I have no idea actually. I WAS talking to a couple people but I DEF never said anything weird to any of them but it won’t take you to the comment you’ve been banned for. I just asked for a human review and it was overturned in a day or two.
There was a news story about a Muslim association in Canada that was having a protest for ‘parents rights’. That being code language for forbidding any mention of trans people in schools.
I replied – hey (name of association) – fuck you. Not to Islam as a religion. Not to all Muslim people. But to that particular association.
7 day hate speech ban. I appealed noting that Reddit itself bans anti trans speech, but no response.
Yes, I got a temporary ban because I was in a politics thread and I brought up the topic of “k*lling the filibuster” and they said I was advocating violence. It just makes me hate these mindless bots that flag words but can’t grasp meaning.
Yes. Because I said, “one day we will read his obituary”. Banned.
I got permanently banned a couple years back for saying “I don’t believe anyone should ever hit their kids BUT striking a little fear into them might be necessary.” Anyways, ya I got permanently banned for that. Just kinda goes to show how soft Reddit is and why this app is the epitome of what’s wrong with the world today
Something similar. It was a post about being as annoying as possible. I mentioned open carrying a thing and got banned for threatening violence. Appealed and got denied. 🤣
I said that a baseball player was justified in “throwing hands” with an umpire who had called a pitch outside the zone a strike. Which I stand by.
I got perm-banned on the deadbedrm sub….all bc I laughed at something. That’s it.
Yes. Appealed. Lifted.
Reports of this all over.
The bots are set too strict and I reckon the admins will get sick of it and loosen controls eventually. Or tweak the AI.
But it’s annoying when it’s happening
Yeah, I got a 3 day ban lifted after I made a joke about a knuckle sandwich.
A long time ago back when Overwatch was new and I was pretty big into watching Twitch streamers play it, one of the streamers I watched made a huge play.
Somebody clipped it and posted it to reddit and posted the reddit thread link in chat. I clicked on it and upvoted it and was rewarded with a 3-day suspension for “brigading” lol
Also, I’m pretty sure you get automatically banned from some subreddits like /r/TwoXChromosomes just for posting in this subreddit.
I’ve been banned for that multiple times recently. They always get appealed and dropped after a day.
Every single time nothing I said was remotely violent. The bot is terrible.
I got a temporary ban for saying it’s ethical to burn down the homes of landlords.
I got another one for saying it’s unfortunate I can’t tell in public who the covid deniers are so I can spit in their face.
I was permanently banned from r/feminism for replying to post saying ‘all men are rapists’ and should be treated as rapists where I said that perspective is prejudice, no different to racism.
Not from Reddit. Not yet anyway.
Got a few Facebook Bans and then some from Nextdoor. Matter of fact, I refise to be friends with any one who hasn’t been banned on Next Door.
Yeah, tons of times. Think they should give karmas for how many downvotes and bans you get.
I vaguely referenced the guillotine as a tool to stop fascism. More specifically, I said the French invented a useful tool for that.
It was a 7 day for telling people they’re allowed to trespass nuisance customers. I guess that’s a violent threat? I appealed and won though. I think the violence bans are because of the support for Mister Mangione. Stranger conspiracies have happened.
Have an account somewhere that was perma’d for talking about eradicating rats in your back yard. I live in Chicago. We are obligated to do so. Reddit apparently just sucks at everything they do.
Happens rarely for me. Last time was about a month ago, banned from some sub or other for saying I was anticipating a certain someone’s f*neral.
Banned for inciting violence
I appealed a ban after a mod thought I was inciting violence, when in actual fact I was quoting the OPs words in their post.
It got overturned after 24 hours.
I got a 14 day ban from r/fishing for saying a fish was named George after someone asked for help identifying a fish they caught. You know because fishing is super serious.
That’s OK. I disagreed with a moderator and was banned. Never said a bad word or threat, just proved them wrong
I got a 7 day ban from the College basketball sub for shit talking a player.
Never once went back
I just created a second account and put a “2” after my profile name and rejoined
Two men barged into a cellphone store in broad daylight brandishing weapons. The owner just noped out of the store and pulled down the night time barricade fencing locking the culprits inside.
The thieves started begging people to let them out before the police arrived.
I made the comment “trapped like monkies In a zoo” as a very large crowd had surrounded the gates looking at them as they pleaded.
I was banned for life from /r/videos
It hasn’t happened to me, but anything that is auto-moderated is bound to keep doing this.
I got banned from r/sports for saying that kid who got disqualified from the swimming race for jumping out of his lane after he won should have known the rules.
I said confederate generals should have been hanged at the end of the civil war.
When you put it straight, many mods hate truth and ban people 🥴
Senator Machin got covid a while back as he was voting on the Republican side. I posted a fingers crossed emoji and got band from politics.
Moderator’s with a power trip? Might be some “woke” agenda?
I’m not sure, they never have the common decency to actually answer questions.
It’s like Reddit’s piss poor help forum.
Yep.
I made up a hypothetical person from a real location to use as an example of annoying behavior, and it apparently rustled someone’s Jimmies bad enough to report me for doxxing.
I got a permanent ban, but appealed it, and they overturned it.
Ya, some people get butt hurt on the interwebs and they report you. Honestly some of the things I got reported on (and successfully appealed) piss me of but Reddit is free so they make their money with advertisements, which in turn means they are (way to) careful with potential comments.
Still pisses me off though
I got one for suggesting that neo-nazis who wear masks to hide their identities should be given something they can’t take off. Also got a warning recently for a similar comment.
I’ve had that happen for a similar thing. A guy posted that he thought a family member was poisoning his dogs. Two dogs dead over the course of a few years. The poster was worried because that family member was going to be around again. In the spirit of camaraderie I made a quip about poisoning the poisoner. Automatic 7 day ban. I appealed it and the mod didn’t answer. I guess they thought I was a super serious arsenic merchant.
I got banned twice. One was from Lego because i commented to a post of this OF model holding a lego set with “a whore with her toy”. And then the second time was from KidsAreFuckingStupid of this clip of a kid getting black paint all over the living room furniture, the floor, the kitchen cabinets and i commented “time to pull out the belt” or “time for a spanking” one of those two. Yeah.
I said a person mentioned in a news article was a “fucking idiot. The mods sent me a warning at 2 a.m. and said I had one hour to delete or edit my comment, or I would be permanently banned. I saw their warning five hours after they’d sent it, and by then the ban was permanent.
I got banned. First for 3 days. Then for a week. Both times it was about staying peaceful during protests. Both times it was supporting the right to protest, and supporting why to protest. I suspect a person with an opposite opinion who reported. I found it ironic that telling people to behave triggered getting banned. I think I used certain key words and the bot could not tell the difference between do this, and don’t do this.
I was banned from mechanic advice or some such for saying changing oil at 3000 miles was excessive and that I knew a tribologist that never changed the oil, only his filter in 10 years. Apparently bit the hand that feeds them.
I’ve been shadowbanned twice by the bots. The first time I didn’t care but the second time I got banned, it was straight BS hate on my comment so I challenged it and specifically wrote that I wanted a human moderator and I was reversed.
I am currently banned for repeating the name of the racist Minnesota mother who used racial slurs against a 5-year-old black boy at a playground and has since raised over $600,000 from other racists so she can move.
I was “rude” (defending my opinion is being rude apparently) towards a mod
I got year-banned from Atheism for saying I don’t give a rat’s shit about some Hindus or Christians being attacked and killed by Muslims (or the other way around). They said I was “glorifying violence”. Why should I give any shits about psychopaths killing other psychopaths, ya know?
I said that anyone who SA kids should either be removed from society and be chemically castrated if they re-enter society. Harsh opinion, but I mean… yeah.
Guess I’m getting banned again.
I got banned for suggesting that Biden was demonstrating mental health / dementia issues. Guess I got that wrong huh.
