For context, I didn’t really have friends before becoming a pet sitter. I’m a gen x who never got a diagnosis for autism, ADHD, or anxiety (until my adult life), but making and keeping friends has never been easy. Now I joke that the cats and dogs in my care are my friends, but it’s more accurate than not. Strangely, I get along better with the people who hire me than most people throughout my life. But they are clients, not friends. But they actually like me, unlike most people I’ve worked with or gone to school with.

Do you want friends? Or are you happy with just these types of relationships?
I like animals better than people. Give me a sweet dog over a bitchy human any day.
Is pet sitting a side gig or is it your main job?
How did you get into pet sitting? It sounds like a great job. Honestly, I have some human friends, but cats are my best friends. 🩷
Do you ever thought about doing meet-ups with other animal lovers?
Hey there I wanted to suggest picking up the book platonic by Dr Marissa J franco, it’s a fantastic and very kind guide to making lifelong friends as an adult! Are you interested in making friends? Or are you more of a homebody?
I’m interested in how you came to become a pet sitter and sorry if it’s rude to ask but how much do you earn?
I got my diagnosis of ADHD this year, also in adulthood, and I am currently waiting to see if I have been accepted for an ASD assessment. My friend has gone away and I am looking after his cat for him and I actually thought it could potentially be a career option for me.
