I’m a Rite Aid Pharmacy Technician – AMA

r/

What the title says- I’ve been a technician for 3 years now and in that time my boss has been arrested, stores have closed, and I’ve learnt a ton.

Well, the obvious question: why was your boss arrested?

  2. generalraptor2002 Avatar

What did your boss get arrested for?

Wow! This subject definitely has potential How did you decide this was a job you wanted to do?

Have you ever had to be forced to fulfill a script that was questionable?

  5. the_blacksmythe Avatar

Do you think having them on your resume will make finding another job hard?

  6. Informal-Swimmer-184 Avatar

Not really a question. But Rite Aid still exists?

How many scripts are filled in a day there? Is there a quota/goal per person? How does the pharmacy check that scripts won’t interact poorly with one another?

Has there ever been a time where someone’s medicine was “missing” a pill, narcotics, and you just gave them what was missing ?

How often do people try and get their pain meds filled early, lol. I lived in that world for years. And its a pain in the butt. One place wouldn’t have them and nobody would help you find the meds you needed. At times its still a struggle but I learned to save some for times when they don’t have them.

How do medications get to the pharmacy? By companies making them ?

I’m a chronic pain patient and have been hearing all kinds of horror stories from people not being able to get their pain meds filled. Seems like a lot are due to shortages or the pharmacy being flat out scared to fill them. What’s the scoop from the other side of the counter on this?

Luckily I use a mom and pop pharmacy in a small town so haven’t had issues yet, but certainly concerned.

Does rite aid pay well for pharmacist and techs?

I been going to same rite aid for my meds for over a decade. Pharmacist is super nice. I go out of my way to get my meds from same rite aid.

If a person tries to fill a controlled substance a day early, do you flag their account? I’ve requested an adderall script early and curious if that would got me flagged as a ‘drug seeker’ or somehow was noted in my account.

There’s a sketchy rite aid pharmacy near me. And one time I took a prescription for 12 Percocet to them. And when I picked it up they had given me 8. Label was changed to 8, there were only 8 in the bottle. The only way I knew they had stole 4 was cause I checked the script before turning it in. So I called them and told them they changed my prescription. They apologized and said I could come back. But my wife had to go there for me. And when she got there they gave her a new bottle, with the right label, but with the 12 crossed out and a 4 hand written in its place. Didn’t do anything to confirm she was the right person (since it wasn’t me now), and didn’t charge her for them.

How likely is it that they were trying to skim pain pills off the top so they could keep them? I assumed they’re doing it to everyone and stealing a lot of pills.

My Rite Aid converted to Walgreens. Felt like Rite Aid offered better weekly sales.
Noticing more frequent turnover of Pharm Techs. Has this always been normal or only because of Covid?
