I’m enjoying life in Canada, as a city bus driver, cruising towards retirement; AMA!

r/

I feel quite fortunate to have landed a career as a city bus driver. Now: Near $100k a year, and 11 paid weeks off each year. Nice benefits and retirement pension plan too…

11 paid weeks???? Good on you that’s a score.
What’s the best and worst thing about the job so far?

Do you mind mentioning which city? Do Canadians use the terms east v west coast? What’s the fuel of the bus?

How many fights have you stopped?

How many drunks have you had to kick out?

    Timbits or donuts?

Have you ever felt uncomfortable with a passenger sitting near you?

Do you have a passenger bestie?

That’s got to be one of the bigger cities. That’s a lot of money for a driver.

Why do you guys always turn and break so harshly? Is that how your buses are, or you are just in constant rush to keep up with your schedule?

No personal grudge but I know places in the world where you would get yelled at by everyone on the bus for that kind of driving.

How many times have you been murdered by the socialist Canadian healthcare system?

What was the training and unboarding experience like? What license do you require?

    Asking from Toronto.

How did you manage to drive many hours per day, same route, without getting bored or without falling asleep (for example in a night/early morning shift)?

How do you stay focused on?

What is your opinion on public transport in the city? Is it too dense, why, is it badly constructed or the machines/trams/buses should be changed with new models, the traffic is horrible because of that or it was designed to allow cars and bikes and everything smoothly find their way?

I am truly happy for you. I hope you can enjoy life, be healthy and tell the people you love you love them. Enjoy your free time, there are a bunch of good films and places to go.
You sound like a pleasant person. Thanks for the time answering (if you have it).
