I’m going to run for local office on a MAGA ticket and champion progressive ideas. Thoughts?

I think it’s high time we start a down-ballot party (like the working families party) MAGA It can stand for Make America Great, America. Ok, it may need a little work but I think using the acronym of this branding is a good idea. Kinda like the independents who vote for the Independence Party.

Or is it too disingenuous?

I think it’s a good idea insofar as it is trying to distance itself from establishment Democratic branding which is pretty generally toxic. I don’t really know if it would work that well as opposed to being forthright. I mean for all you can say about MAGA, it does seem to have a pretty heavy bend towards, for example, white supremacist thought. My guess is that you couldn’t separate the branding from that message which means you might need to compromise your own values in unacceptable ways.

I mean… The Democratic and Republican Party essentially switched way back when and the Republicans still like to say the Democrats supported all these awful things… Clearly the name matters! 😆

You definitely need to pick at least one bizarre, niche political view from the late 1800s to make a cornerstone of your campaign. Tariffs are taken, so how do you feel about bimetallism?

Check out the candidacy of Aria DiMezzo. She managed to get a Republican nomination in a local election for sheriff.

Good luck, they’ll find out in about 10 seconds, you’ll full of $#!+. However, if you feel strongly that MAGA is that stupid by all means toss all your cards in and do it. Actually this is a fantastic experiment, let us all know where you are doing this so you can prove how correct you are and how dumb MAGA is. It’s nothing but a upward swing….unless you are wrong…no chance though. Put your money where your mouth is right?

Oddly, he’s been described as a Jacksonian, so not far off from a democrat.

    >”Broadly speaking, the era was characterized by a democratic spirit. It built upon Jackson’s equal political policy, subsequent to ending what he termed a monopoly of government by elites. Even before the Jacksonian era began, suffrage had been extended to a majority (rather than landholders only). Jacksonian democracy also promoted the strength of the presidency and the executive branch at the expense of Congress, while also seeking to broaden the public’s participation in government. The Jacksonians demanded elected, not appointed, judges and rewrote many state constitutions to reflect the new values. In national terms, they favored geographical expansionism, justifying it in terms of manifest destiny.

    >In 1999, Historian Robert V. Remini stated that Jacksonian Democracy involved the belief that the people are sovereign, that their will is absolute and that the majority rules.

He’s all that. The Democrats are now run by the elite, who espouse idealistic philosophies and apply them to reality with limited success and lack of real experience. They’ve ignored the votes and will of the majority in a “liberal knows best” small group elitism, backed by the majority of the elite press; yet Trump clearly won the popular vote as well as both House and Senate.

The two parties have now nearly flip-flopped. There was a CNN poll stating that voters now felt Republicans had their best interest at heart – tied with Dems. The Dems had never lost that poll. He also ignored the stock market and poll for the greater good of a farther goal – more manufacturing blue-collar jobs at home (rather than those that need college educated workers) and taxation for those who aren’t paying their fair share.

    Run as an independent.

    That’s too confusing.

Remember, this is the country where the 1/3 lb burger failed because they thought the 1/4 lb burger was bigger.

George Carlin said, “think of the average intelligence of an American and then realize that half of the rest are dumber than that!”

I don’t know how well that would work out since you do have to go through the party to get the nomination if running against a democrat incumbent. Definitely won’t happen if trying to primary a republican incumbent.

Honestly though, I think it’s past time to get in the mud with the pigs and play just as dirty, without hurting people of course, and let the mud fly. Do something that shows people that you are there for a fight and you will not go down easily. It’s time for action. Booker is the only Democrat I’ve seen in the last 3 months try to DO something with his 24 hour marathon speech. We need so much more action from all of our elected Democrats. Sitting around waiting for this regime to implode is not good policy.
