Everyone freaked out at him when he did that. Everyone even Cecil was like what the fuck. It’s the fact Rudy doesn’t understand humans or human emotion he legitimately didn’t understand why it was wrong to do so. But it’s already done, and it’s not like you can change him back easily, especially if he’s unwilling.
Even him changing his name to Rex, everyone thought that was weird too, but everyone also knew he worked with Rex for multiple years and a lot of them could make the assumption Rudy really is trying to honor Rex. Even if it’s actually super shitty what he’s done.
Everyone has addressed the body thing already but contextually the name thing isn’t that weird. Everyone knows that Rudy is weird, Samson even calls him a cold fish, but they know that fundamentally that he means well so they let it pass.
For the name thing, everyone present at the funeral knows Rudy. They know his situation and know he knows very little about like social stuff,so they understand Rudy is pretty much honoring his fallen friend in his own way. Even if it’s super weird they’re not gonna take this away from him,he’s grieving just like them.
Because the guardians are full of drama and betwen a member stealing another’s DNA and the leader sleeping with the same guys girlfriend, they also cant do anything about it.
It’s really a group of misfits. That see that as a nice gesture because it is not causing real damage.
The name thing is kinda funny because rex in latin means king. Rudy definitely knows that. I guess that accepted the name thing because it was a moment and no one wants to the That guy at a funeral

They do think its weird. They address it in his first scene in Rex’s body.
They’re probably still weirded out by it, they just don’t keep talking about it after that.
They explicitly do, it’s brought up a few times.
But, like, what are they going to do about it? Forcibly copy his mind into a new body? Demand he change his name or leave the team?
It’s weird, but it’s not illegal or anything, and it’s not like the rest of the team is a stranger to weird decisions.
They all do, but Rudy is just so useful that it doesn’t matter. And he’s still a member of the Guardians and is a hero.
As others have already said, they do. It’s important to note Rex seems over it, which has a big effect on how others view it.
The name… was to honour him. That wasn’t supposed to be weird.

They aren’t going to be upset over it any more than Rex is, and Rex is actually a quite chill guy in the show who gets over it quickly.
Why does nobody in the guardians think it’s weird that dupli Kate keeps gangbanging her coworkers in the communal shower? Get a room!
I swear half the questions on here are from people who have never engaged with the source material on even a basic level.
They’ve seen too much weird shit, they’re desensitized.
