Well if you are getting 1st degree burns = Self Harm. If you are a woman then it’s perfectly normal. I find that many women take showers so hot that it makes men scream. Therefore it makes us married men believe that women are of the Devil. JK ladies we love you. Just not in the same shower or tub at the same time

Only if it’s hot enough to harm you. You’d be better off, and many people do, by doing it the other way round with cold water

Besides the actual skin burn potential, being in water that hot also has strong effects on your cardiovascular system.

    Enjoy with care.

I personally enjoy heat a bit too much sometimes. I’ve been known to have marks from hot water bottles in the winter cuz I’d fall asleep with a very hot water bottle on my chest. I also bathe like I’m trying to cook myself. We’re talking max temp that our water system has for around two hours on average. I used to be a lot more resilient to heat, but nowadays hot baths like those screw up my body a bit so I toned them down a bit, but I miss putting myself through an extreme sauna experience once in a while.

What I do is most likely unhealthy. Hot water bottles weren’t intended to leave burn marks and baths aren’t supposed to cause hyperhidrosis or make you feel sedated. I over do things with heat. I don’t consider what I do self-harm because I don’t do it to hurt myself. Nowhere in my thought process is the idea that I want to cause myself pain or damage, I simply have no idea where the line between good and bad is when it comes to heat. It’s as if my pain tolerance for heat is higher than it should be, so I don’t really feel it’s hurting until I see the damage.

I think it really depends on your intentions there. Are you doing it despite the damage you might cause to your body and ignoring your own health and safety or are you doing it for the comforting and relaxing feeling while trying to minimize the risk of harm to you?

Not if you have poison Ivy. Instant relief

It really depends on what temperature you’re talking about. I get uncomfortable in hit water above 38C very quickly

I know the feeling. Sometimes it’s so hot it feels cold.

Sounds like sensory seeking behavior, unless you’re actually harming yourself. If it goes too far, it’s in the self harm territory for sure.

I strongly suspect that it’s an addiction. An addiction to the narcotic effects of hot gases: hot water, hot oxygen, hot nitrogen.

You know of nitrogen narcosis and oxygen narcosis. That can happen with hot gases as well as with high pressure gases.
