I’ve been texting this guy everyday on and off for three months. For context, he has a lot of “girl” friends (due to cultural connections), so everyone assumes he is gay, which is a common stereotype unfortunately:(. He claims he is an introvert but he has a lot of friends in person and he is pretty popular in social status. I’ve known him for a year but when I first talked to him, I was trying to unlock his watch and he was playfully telling me that I would never guess his password. (See messages below for reference) Then, he started becoming dry and would often lead me on read, making me do most of the initiating in convos. Assuming he doesn’t like texting, I called him and first time he picked up, then afterwards would hang the call and playfully told me to leave voicemails instead. Once, he called me up in the shower room to help me with my phone and then hopped off.
When I tried to take his watch multiple times, he would always hide it, say “I don’t have my watch”, and quickly walk away. We’ve gotten into arguments due to our various communication styles and I made a cute nickname for him (he claims that I used it to call him gay- which was annoying to him, but not to mention how many times he called ME gay, but I am friends with so many gay people and made it clear to him that I LIKE gay people) and kept shipping him with a cute girl that he’s rumored to have liked. He got mad, stopped replying, and even after I apologized and asked what else we could talk about instead, he still hasn’t put in any effort into communicating.
This guy thinks I am a nerd because I take advanced mathematics. One day, I took his computer and he got angry and asked me “what are you doing?!” but a few minutes later, he snatched my math homework and tried to solve it. Then, we bonded in two hours by solving math problems together and he showed me that he could make complicated graphs on desmos and how he solved these multivariable problems (my friend said he was trying to impress me- idk atp).
However, my birthday was a couple days ago and he was behind me when my friends wished me. And he never wished me or uttered a word- I’ve talked to him everyday for three months, what. Not to mention, I was coming home late from an outdoor activity and told him that at 2 am, it’s raining and it was nice outside. This could* have been implying suicide since there was a guy that committed suicide 2 am outside at our location a few weeks ago. He never checked up on me and left me on read. What should I do? AIO, did I do something wrong? Should I continue being friends with him or just cut him off? Could I have some advice because I’ve been trying to move on for so long but I just can’t
TL;DR This guy’s giving me mixed signals and I don’t know how to leave the relationship.
