Is it common to be shocked by reading something?

r/

I quite often see people saying “can someone click on the link and tell me what it talks about” or people saying “i should have stayed curious… Do not open the link, i’m serious” on stuff like wikipedia link. I get that images, even if it’s not the case for me, might be shocking. But text? Are people exaggerating, or is it a common thing?

I’m sorry if this is obvious or anything, i am just feeling literally nothing while reading those kind of articles, let alone feeling enough disgust to be shocked by it.

For instance, i am talking about “Abu Grahib”, “unit 731” or wiki pages like this. I understand that it is bad and would probably be shocking to see in person, but maybe other people don’t get the same feeling of “disconnect” as i feel over text.
