I am in a unique situation and am wondering if it will ever be appropriate for me to date my ex’s friend. The friend (24M) confessed his feelings for me (24F) one month ago, after my ex and I had been broken up for 9 months. Now, at the 10 month mark, he has decided to tell my ex, his friend, that he has feelings for me and would like to take me out on a date.
Here is the unique part of the situation: All of us currently live together. Student housing type situation; everyone has their own rooms and we share a common living space. We moved in to this place during my relationship with my ex, and then we broke up in the middle of this lease. We are currently riding out the last 2 months before we all part ways. We, have talked about the possibility of dating, but the friend and I have 100% agreed that nothing will start between us while we all live together. That would be shitty.
I have heard arguments from people about what situations make dating someone’s ex okay or not, so im wondering where I stand.
TLDR: My ex and I dated for 1.5 years, i broke things off 10 months ago and now his friend (and one of our roommates) has feelings for me. We dont want to be rash (especially in the house) but could this ever work out?

You’re consenting adults. All that matters is that you want to. It may impact your relationship with your ex and it may impact their relationship, and if you’re ok with that risk then there’s no issue.
I was going to say it was fine until I learned you all lived together.–Now I gotta at least say it might be risky because of that. I think things have a good chance of being hard. But ultimately up to everyone involved. 🙂 I think with communication it could work (also I feel like I’ve seen this somewhere before… New Girls?)
