Last year, I booked a trip to New Orleans for my 40th birthday. It’s always been on my bucket list. There is a jazz festival on my birthday so it felt meant to be. My flights and hotel are locked in.
I’m Canadian and I know tensions are high between our countries. Your president put tariffs on us and joked/threatened annexation. Our prime minister retaliated with more tariffs.
Is it still safe for me to travel there or should I just eat the cost of my tickets. I’ve heard horror stories but I don’t know if they’re true.

Yes
In my progressive city, there are roving gangs of leftists and rightists armed with AR-15s and tactical gear actively seeking out Canadians to “take care” of them.
This is a dumb joke.
You’ll be fine!
First off to most people the average Canadian is indistinguishable from the average American. Secondly even if people knew you were Canadian no one and I mean no one would care.
Just don’t say the word, “about.”
We love Canadians! Everyone is just and confused and pissed about this trade war bullshit as you guys are. Even (sane) conservatives are confused. You’ll be more than welcome.
>I’ve heard horror stories
Like what? I’m asking honestly.
In a larger sense, you have it backwards. Americans don’t care and you won’t be in any sort of danger. If anything it’s the opposite, it’s Canadians spewing vitriolic hate at Americans…
We keep getting these questions and its nothing short of perplexing.
Just don’t call anyone buddy. Pal.
Yes, you guys are always welcome by your average non orange American.
Yes. Who would care? From what I have been seeing from Canadian posts, the opposite might not be true (although I’m sure 99% of those posts are BS and I could walk through Toronto in a USA shirt and nobody would even say any in)
Only if we can smell the maple on y- OF COURSE it’s safe for a Canadian to travel in the US.
There is no groundswell of anti-Canadian sentiment, what you’re seeing is all top-down White House stuff. He sure didn’t run on that nonsense, nobody even mentioned it until after the election.
Yes! We love our Canadian neighbors!
Because of our very outdated electoral college system our voices aren’t heard
Millions of us voted AGAINST all things Trump
Nobody is going to bother you lmao
The American people aren’t mad at Canadians so no issue there. Your largest concern is going through customs. The customs officers might be dicks, but as long as you show that you have a hotel and a return flight, the worst that should happen is an inspection.
>I’ve heard horror stories
Better keep out of the woods then. You know, the guy with the hockey mask?
In all seriousness though, you’ll be fine. Absolutely zero harm would come to you even if you stood up in the middle of the jazz concert, raised a Canadian flag, and screamed hate against America…even then literally nobody would do anything.
Chill.
When was it not safe?
The real question is…is it safe fir an American to travel to Canada?
