I used to draw (it was one of my hobbies) when I was a kid and I stopped drawing at age 20. I’ve learned art at school but I didn’t pursue it.
Now I can’t draw anymore even a simple thing. I feel like my hand froze every time I tried to draw.
But I feel like drawing again .

You definitely should try. Some things do become more difficult to learn the older you get but are worth the effort because they can help your mental health.
It’s never too late to learn anything. If you feel like doing it, do it! There are a ton of resources online: UDEMY, craftsy, YouTube. You’ve got this!
It’s never too late to learn anything at any age, just learn basics and let your creativity flow before picking a style
Art isn’t like physical sports where the body gets certain limits after certain ages. You can definitely learn, and definitely get to a decent level if you have the patience and commitment
I Barely learned piano when i was young. At age 27, I decided to try it again, and doing great. Art/drawing should be the same way. Just keep practicing.
yeah it’s too late. it’s all downhill and really what’s the point anymore
I started doing life drawing again in my late 40s
Go for it! Some famous artists started way late, sorry can’t remember which but there are examples. Actors too! Just take the who cares attitude and do it for yourself!
I thought I was a good artist, then went to Art school at age 30 and had to forget everything I “knew” and start over, so no it’s not too late at all
It’s never too late.
I started learning an instrument at the age of 40. Best decision of my life.
So my advice is to just go for it and have as much fun as you can with it.
No, start drawing now!!! Imagine how good you’re gonna be at 60 when you’ve been drawing for 30 years
I don’t get what you mean by is it too late to learn? In what way?
Not too late to learn but might be to late to become an S tier artist
Nope. In fact, I bet you’ll find you’ll quickly improve from where you left off
Definitely not too late. Get a pack of good pens, a cheap notebook and carry them all the time. I stopped sketching 15 years ago, this year I started again, committed to make it daily since January and my drawing game as never been so satisfying
Never. Draw everything and anything you want. Get back into it. Please! For most of my life I never knew that my grandmother was a very good artist. She could paint anything. She just didn’t for so long because she didn’t have the time. After my grandfather died, my grandmother took up painting again as a hobby, she couldn’t do much else for fun anymore. She helped my grandfather on the farm for close to sixty years. That work broke her down in her old age. On top of everything else a woman dealt with back then. Had 9 children, only 2 of them survived past childbirth. Life was a lot harder back then.
The point is, do what makes you happy. My grandmother loved to paint and she was a great artist but I never knew this about her until her last years of life. I will always cherish her paintings she made. They are beautiful!
I used to draw as well, paint, sculpt. I loved everything about art other than my high school art teacher which kinda ruined it for me. On top of starting to smoke pot and then I don’t know what happened to my imagination. So I stopped.
Do it, just refresh your memory a bit. Its like not running for a long time, but you refresh a bit and then pooof INSPIRATION and MUSCLE MEMORY.
I started drawing at 45, never too late and it’s good for you.
No
Neuroplasticity research shows that the brain responds to use, and will change to optimize for what you’re doing at any age. Habits die hard, but you CAN learn anything any time.
Grandma Moses didn’t start painting until age 78 and she is considered one of the greats. Painting isn’t drawing, of course, but that should encourage you.
I started drawing at 31. I use reference pics and try my best to copy them then I learned that everything is just shapes. When you figure out that a simple shape can do so much, it makes it less daunting.
No. Of course not. Never is. It’ll come right back when you get into it.
Never you have a pulse and you’re physically capable
I’d say it’s a fantastic idea in regards to your future mental capabilities. Learn an instrument while you’re at it.
It’s too late when your hands have lost the muscle needed to pull it off. Like, when you’re an old person with shaky hands, then it’s too late.
As others have said, it’s not too late, my mum is 80 soon and has been going to creative classes once a week for 5 years, her work is unlikely to end up in a gallery but her skills have improved lots AND most importantly she enjoys it.
Too late for what?
Its not uncommon for retired people in their 70s to pick up painting as a hobby and get pretty good at it
Never too late, I took it up near retirement and even did a public juried show of watercolors. It was one of the best enrichment activities I ever pursued- just uncharecteristically embraced it
Never too late. In fact with an adult brain you may be able to grasp some concepts better. Ive found as an adult I’m way better at 90% of things than I was as a teenager.
I bought a laptop and an animation iPad last year. I still haven’t made anything. I’ve realized my drawing is way worse now and I just don’t feel like practicing for a year to get good again. I’m older than you. You can always get the groove back.
If you have the time and the desire… Go for it. There is no skill or age police who will come and yell at you. Go for i!
Hell no. My buddy got me drawing early 30s and I was pretty good at one point. Be prepared to not be good at first but practice will make you better!
There is a woman in her 70s that paints and sells them at a local market. She has drawn and painted until she got married. Through raising kids, Being a wife, and eventually care-provider for her husband, she didn’t draw anything for 50 years. A few years after her husband died she started up again and she is good!!
It is never too late.
No. Keep going.
Are you planning on dying at 32?
It’s only too late when you’re at your deathbed.
Pro-tip: do warm-up drawings. Your body has forgotten how to draw, so you can’t just go for an anatomy study immediately. However, doodling lines and circles will help you figure out wrist/hand movements again, and then you can start over with some shapes.
There is only one moment, when it is too late to learn to draw, to play an instrument, to write a book, to compose an opera, and so on: When, after the lid of the wooden box has closed and somebody start throwing dirt on it. Not one moment earlier.
Never too late to learn how to do anything
Never too late to reignite a passion or learn something new.
When you feel the urge to draw… Go with it. Don’t make the goal perfection… It’s art <3
Pewdiepie did something like that, check out his drawing progress videos perhaps for inspiration
Nope! I restarted in my thirties and then took up painting in my late thirties
Then start drawing. It’s never too late. Give yourself some guidelines though, e.g. “Today I’m drawing a 2D cat”, or “Draw a tree with five branches”.
