Is it unusual to be able to lay on the bottom of a 12′ deep swimming pool?

r/

I can not swim. I cannot float. I sink like a rock, which is has lead to me doing a bit of a party trick at swimming pools where I can drop down and lay down on the bottom of swimming pools. Today I got down to the bottom of the 12 foot end.

Is it really that uncommon for people to be able to do that? I know a lot of people were trying to go down for diving toys and such, but I can just drop in. I was even able to hold onto my son to take him down so he could say he touched bottom as well.

Do the people around you know you can’t swim?

you probably just don’t have much body fat, also if you’re a guy you’re less buoyant than women usually

  4. Lost-Meeting-9477 Avatar

You must be pure muscle, not an ounce of fat whatsoever.

Fat floats; muscle sinks. You’re body type is hated by lifeguards because you have no inherent buoyancy 🙃

  6. QLDZDR Avatar

You must be all muscle or your body fat is genetically dense

I’m confused… you cant swim but you sunk to the bottom of a 12ft pool for a “party trick” ?

It’s not common for people to do that, but it’s also not difficult to do. Most people just don’t or never have.
