Is it weird to book a hotel for myself for one night… just because?

r/

Been struggling to sleep in my college dorm, and quite frankly have been feeling stressed and overwhelmed. I know paying $100 to sleep is a bit excessive, and there’s no guarantee it will be quiet, but it would be nice to not have to deal with roommates and just get room service and knock out some work, not have to rush in the shower, and finally get sleep.

You don’t need the approval of strangers on the internet to do something. Just do it. lol

  2. Extra_Werewolf_9054 Avatar

I would do it for sure, gives yourself a bit of a break

  3. Tuxy-Two Avatar

Nope, not weird. Not common, but not weird.

Give yourself a treat. If you were going out of town, no one would think twice about it. So, what is the real difference?

  5. aaronite Avatar

Let’s say it is. So what? Who’s going to know?

I often book a hotel room for the weekend in my town just to rest and relax. I mainly just stay in my room and pick put food at local restaurants. The change in routine is stress relieving.

No, I’ve done it a couple times get yourself a king sized suite and feel fancy no one’s going to even bat an eye

I do it several times a year. It’s nice to have a tiny vacation away from home.

Do it! I have done this especially when my kids were little. It is a refresher.

  10. CrenshawMafia99 Avatar

    No. It’s not weird.

Try and find one that has a pool for a great overnight stay!

If you’re asking the internet for advice on this i think you need the break more than you know. Hit the mini bar, you’ve earned it 😂

  12. AlexisAbner541 Avatar

Nope it’s perfectly normal if you want a break from your house or are taking a vacation and you are booking a hotel for yourself, I live country to country and I stay alone in hotels quite often

  13. Fredredphooey Avatar

No. I live alone but sometimes you just need a hotel.

  14. Catz_2224 Avatar

Go for it. I hope you get lots of rest!!!

  15. 424Impala67 Avatar

Nope, hotels don’t care why you stay there, they just want the money.

Not the worst way to spend a day or two.

Set the thermostat to whatever you want.
    Order in whatever you want.
Hot showers and baths for days.
    All the things.

    Sounds really nice

  18. Ok_Plantain3653 Avatar

Do it! I have chronic pain and have rented a room to use the hot tub and just relax.

  19. PoopTransplant Avatar

    Who cares, go do you.

  20. itsboutsammichtime Avatar

Hell nah I do it all the time. It’s amazing would definitely recommend

If it’s in your budget and you want it, it’ll probably refresh you more than drain you. Sometimes you just gotta listen to what your soul wants. I myself once booked a hotel and did nothing but have a dozen baths, eat takeout, and sleep. Can recommend.

  22. SwiftSurfer365 Avatar

Do it! Sounds like a good evening to just relax.

  23. joelm7660 Avatar

    Sounds great! Do it.

  24. quarantina2020 Avatar

Make sure to get one with a nice bathtub so you can have a good soak

  25. HonkIfBored Avatar

There’s a whole term for it called “staycation.”

  26. Primary_Company_3813 Avatar

My daughter did the same thing when she was in school for those same reasons. Sometimes I took the train and joined her! 🙂

  27. SourPatchCorpse Avatar

I did this once. Drank about seven OG Four Lokos at a Red Roof Inn and ordered Papa John’s. Recommended.

  28. Sauron795 Avatar

No dude, just do it! I’ve wanted to do this before too for various reasons. You don’t need a good reason to get away. I’m an introvert and love quiet/ alone time, if I don’t get any I’ll go insane.

  29. spidertaster Avatar

I think it makes complete sense. At least try it. Go chill and be chill. Hope it helps!

  30. InfiniteJest25 Avatar

I’ve done it definitely worth it.

  31. ProcedureNo6946 Avatar

Do it! Nothing weird about it! It’s called SELF CARE.

  32. ncg195 Avatar

Why not? Sure, it’s a little weird, but who cares? It’s not like the hotel staff know or care why you’re staying there anyway.

  33. smizzle2112 Avatar

Not weird, do it. Find one with a hot tub if you can

My junior and senior year, I saved up each semester to stay in a hotel near campus for finals week. I could sleep, study, shower, or watch TV on my own schedule around the testing windows. It was SO nice to have a quiet space to get comfortable, have food delivered, set the thermostat to my preferred temp, or take a break in the exercise center or a dip in the pool. All this instead of running back and forth to the library (where you have to be silent and the chairs are made of oak) and arguing with my roommate about my study lamp being too bright, or she doesn’t like the smell of my food at 3AM when I want to take a study break. Kinda felt like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone 2, staying at that hotel. Still look back fondly on my little finals week staycations. Highly recommend.

No not at all. We all need a break now and then to reset ourselves.

Not at all !! Have a nice dinner for one also.
