Is my stepbrother “just being a kid” or a psychopath

NSFW for graphic language, but I need someone who’s a bit better with mental health to help me with this.

So basically I have a stepbrother who’s around 8 years old. He’s a little odd and annoying, but I thought that was about it, and being slightly weird is normal for a younger kid. However, as of recently some behaviors of his have concerned me.

I just recently got a kitten and by now she’s around two months old, and she’s my baby. I’ve taken care of her and catered to her every need since I’ve gotten her. This visit is my stepbrother’s first time meeting her, and for the first couple hours he was a little energetic with her but nothing out of the ordinary. Eventually, however, the kitten got tired of the 8 year old energy and started hissing and scratching, obviously annoyed with his lack of boundaries. Rather than leaving her alone, as I imagine I would’ve done at his age, he began getting more rough with her and saying some very concerning things out loud such as

“If you keep hissing at me I’m gonna choke you out so you can’t move”

“If you keep cowering in the corner I’m going to bash your skull in”

When I asked him to leave her alone, he said “only if you close the door so she can’t get away”

I’m really worried for my kittens safety now, because the kitten stays at my mom’s house and I’m not always here. I’m worried that he’ll really act on these thoughts and I won’t be here to protect my kitten.

This is not normal behavior. For the sake of the kitten please do not let this kid unsupervised with the kitten.

Yeah psychopathic tendencies do stem to hurting animals best option is to cut him off even when he gets help a kitten is very fragile and you don’t want any “accidents”.

That’s concerning. Are you able to speak to your parents about this? I’m not an expert but he needs to be talked to and possibly needs therapy. Threatening an animal is not normal and he’s old enough to know right from wrong.

It might be worth your while setting up a camera to keep an eye on him. Tell them its to watch the cat play. But you definitely need to keep him as far away from pets and fire as possible
