Is there a way to condition myself to not hate the sound of chewing?

r/

I have to leave the room when my mother eats because she chews so loud and it HURTS physically.

I have to turn up the TV volume when my boyfriend eats because he chews so loud and so fast I just keep staring in shock.

I try to avoid eating certain foods bc even hearing MYSELF chew bothers me!!

I need a solution bc this is getting wild…I’ve been trying to force myself to watch Mukbang videos but it still feels like nails on a chalkboard! HELP!

Listening to abrasive music, like noise music, like clattering and grinding with no rhythm has somewhat helped with my irritation with noise. But it only lasted as long as I was listening consistently. Try Nurse With Wound. It’s not chewing noises, but I found myself caring less about all annoying noise

r/misophonia is a thing. Search chewing in the sub for other threads.

For me, it’s the sound of people chewing ice and I do anxiety reducer breathing techniques. Thankfully eating ice is a rate occurance and my husband and son learn not to do it around me. Hopefully you find your solution.
