Hey guys, recently had a friend over at my place, and I’m a pretty heavy sleeper where its like, it’s hard to wake me up at night once I’m fast asleep. My friend mentioned my snoring was pretty bad, so much so that he ended up taping my mouth shut to get some sleep. I woke up feeling well-rested actually, but was a bit surprised to see the tape around my lips. He explained it was to stop my snoring of course and he didn’t want to disturb my sleep and wake me up so did what was best he could at that time.
I’ve never really noticed my snoring before, but it sounds like it might be something I need to address. Has anyone had similar experiences? Any tips on fixing this without resorting to extreme measures?

Cpap, this device changed my life. Snoring stopped and quality of sleep is 100% better.
Try some breathe right strips. They work wonders for me. If they work for you, Costco sells big boxes that make them pretty inexpensive per strip.
If you have sleep apnea, you’re lucky you didn’t straight up die to that tape. Are you merely snoring or do you have long pauses in your breathing while asleep? If it’s the latter, get yourself checked for sleep apnea, it’s no joke.
Schedule a sleep study.
Get CPAP machine.
Stop snoring and falling asleep in the middle of the day.
Uhm your friend should never touch anyone in their sleep without consent.
I think that’s a bigger issue than your snoring
Get a sleep study done. I’m 31 and ended up with a CPAP this year and it’s changed my life
I’m a heavy snorer. Heavy enough that I’m walking myself out of deeper cycles of sleep and not realizing it. I’d always wake up tired and unrested. Felt like I was up all night by my wife confirmed that I was sleeping and snoring.
Mouth taping is the only thing that seems to help. According to my sleep tracking Garmin I’m actually now getting deep sleep each night. Prior I’d get none. I do feel more rested and my mouth/throat is not dried out.
According to my wife I still snore, which is possible because you can snore through your nose. But the intensity is less resulting in improved sleep.
I find sleeping at an angle helps rather than flat. I don’t have a protractor to hand so I’m not sure of the number but I’d say say 20-30%
I’ve slept like that for so long now I find it really hard to lie down flat to sleep
To nearly guarantee it there are boil and mouth guards which pull your lower jaw forwards making it almost impossible to snore
Never had any success with the nose things
Your airway is blocked.
At home you can try tape, allergy pills and a netti pot or major weight loss. Or you can see a doctor, get a sleep study and get prescribed a CPAP machine.
If you aren’t ready to do a sleep study even though that’s the best thing…
What I’m getting at is that you need to be able to gather some info about yourselfwhile you sleep. Figure out how bad it is, take it from there.
Also, yea your friend is a dick! Wonder if you are such a heavy sleeper because you are getting shit sleep all the time.
Were you drinking? Alcohol can make snoring worse.
Go see a pulmonologist and get a cpap machine.
