In Brazil, this region would be the South. There are exceptions, not all areas and residents are like this, but some inhabitants of this region tend to think they are superior to others because they are descendants of Germans, Portuguese, Italians, etc. They can preserve their culture, as long as they do not disregard others. This region also has a lot of European architecture and is the coldest area of Brazil, with even snow, with some cities that are very reminiscent of Europe. Obviously, with the increase in awareness about prejudice and with the new laws, this feeling of superiority is decreasing.

That would be the entire country(?
In Uruguay? I believe no, maybe 3 weirdos in Nueva Helvecia and thats it
I feel there is the same type of pride in Mexico with people with Spanish ancestry. Not a region in particular, but some neighborhoods on big cities.
South of Chile received a lot of immigrants from Germany and Croatia during the 19th and 20th century, to the point where you can notice it in the buildings and businesses located there, but I’ve never met anyone who felt superior for being of European descent. Personally I have Croatian ancestry but I do not feel Croatian at all, and honestly if anyone made a big deal out of their ancestry I would find it cringey af.
No, but actually yes. The people who have lived in and around the mountains close to the capital are mostly white/mestizo, and are very racist against black people, though they’ll never admit it. Black people seldom last long there.
There’s little pretension (or even the idea) of whiteness, but they know who they are not, and whom they are supposed to dislike.
More European there is none in Brazil, brazilians thinking they are “pure white” or “europeans” theres is a lot.
the reality check that these brazilians who think they are european experience when they actually go to europe and realize that to europeans they are just any random latino is quite funny.
You, as a Brazilian, have already said everything I was going to comment on the subject, so… BYE!
I come back to comment that there are theories that the Germans and Italians who immigrated from Europe to Brazil during or at the end of the Second World War, were from the party of Mr. “CALVO” and Mr. “BIGODINHO”, because this would explain the prejudiced culture of decades ago in this region, as it was influenced by those aberrations from the last century. But it’s just a theory, you can’t be sure of that, in the case of ARGENTINA, you can be completely sure of that 😀 (It’s humor, it’s a joke. I love it and hate it, a Hermanos relationship)
Not really, but maybe yes. People in Cuenca and Quito sure love telling you how European their city looks, and how it’s the most European city ever (despite not being anywhere near Europe). The people however don’t claim to be European themselves, just their city. It’s not really related to race but more architecture and lifestyle I guess.

There is no super european part of Mexico, just less indigenous ones. There’s also the special case of the mennonites, closest thing to your question.
I don’t think you can put it down to a particular zone, it’s just a weird type of person. Maybe more frequent in the upper classes.
Mexico is cool because we have entire communities from other parts of the world in Mexico who still retain their heritage and cultures but mixed with Mexican traditions like Italians greeks jews Arabs Spaniards even new groups like Argentinians Central Americans Koreans japanese Chinese and many more
No
Brazilian here. Some of these places barely speak Portuguese! My grandparents grew up speaking a German dialect (I’ve learned it a bit- useless to speak with actual Germans), only younger folks are breaking out due to globalization, though they still speak with a heavy accent.
La Colonia Tovar, but many of those German ancestry have German-born grandparents or parents (or they themselves were born in Germany) and they grew up speaking German. In fact many speak Spanish as a second language. They are like the Amish and Mennonites minus the religious part so in a way they are Germans. Sadly many of them had to leave after the Venezuelan-German diplomatic crisis a few years ago, but I know a few German-Venezuelans who decided to stay.
Then there’s the Venezuelans who call themselves Europeans only because their grandparents or great grandparents were European (you see in other countries as well) They don’t speak Italian, Portuguese, etc, they don’t know much about their ancestors culture, but they label themselves as Italo-Venezolanos, Luso-Venezolanos, etc., and they do believe themselves superior. My grandparents were French, but I wasn’t taught French as a child, French culture never played a role in my family, so I will never be French (thank Jesus)
In Colombia personally I have not met either kind of people.
Eh, none really, we never had much Euro migration other than the initial Spanish. There are regions where European ancestry is stronger I guess, but generally there’s not really any distinction, some people from Manizales and Antioquia might feel white but we usually just bully them because even if they’re blonde and blue eyed they’re just as screwed up and Latin American as the rest of us
The northwest is the “whitest” region. And there’s racism, banter and rivalry with the south.
But I don’t think they feel european or pretend to be european. They are very Mexican.
South of Brazil 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
There’s Pozuzo, but I wouldn’t say the inhabitants feel superior. It’s just a cute, somewhat oddly-different, place in the country.
Most of the people with Italian acestry, not all of them of course, live in Buenos Aires, so you’ll fine them more there. While Germans, for example, moved to other provinces and there are communities of foreigners in other provinces, I feel this phenomena occurs more in Buenos Aires.
I can’t talk about people with ancestry from Spain because that’d make like something real close to the 90% of the population.
Capital Federal who looks like Madrid and Barcelona. The average is descendent of southitalians and iberians in some degree.
Wolga germans towns from Entre Rios, Misiones and in BA province the town of Cnel.Suarez. In that towns easily the average its parcially german or polish, descendent that seetled on the end of XIX Century or early XX Century.
In the province of Cordoba exist a town called “San Francisco” where easily almost all are parcially nothernitalian descendent in some degree. And there are 2 german town called “Villa Gral.Belgrano” and “Santa Rosa Del Valle de Calamuchita”. That have the same characteristics of Entre Rios towns.
In Venezuela we have Colonia tovar which is a little town founded by germans in the 19th century.
There’s still a lot of people there of german ancestry, don’t know if they feel superior tho

It’s all about old money and connections. I grew up going to school with kids from some of the wealthiest families in CDMX in the 60’s. We lived like royalty in a nation where pediatric malnutrition was a serious problem. In Secundaria they took us water skiing twice a month, and let us plan our own curricula. We didn’t just feel superior, we felt like gods.
In Honduras we have a whole island invaded by Gringos and europeans, to the point all the island uses USD dollars as currency (the rest of the country uses Lempiras).
And the Hondurans that live there do distinguish themselves as better, they even have the nerve to call themselves “english” lmao.
The island is indeed a paradise tho. A shame its invaded.

No.
The south doesn’t have particularly more European architecture than the rest of Brazil unless you don’t consider Portuguese architecture as european
The most similar thing to it would be the north, they don’t compare themselves with europeans tho, they do so with ‘muricans, their cities tend to be more industrious and developed, they share the cowboy culture and wild west history, their indigenous populations were for the most part related to the natives of the great plains instead of those of mesoamerica like the rest of the country, they are overall whiter, etc, etc, the state of Nuevo León is probably the epicenter of it
The central valley, its not “much european” per se, but the biggest european influence (culturally, demographically, socially) felt stronger there. People also tend to be (not counting recent inmigrants and their children tho) whiter in comparation to the rest of the country.
For example all the stereotypes of “ticos are white”, “they are different to other central americans” etc… came from this region
