I’m just curious if anyone does all of the above and still lives a very long or very healthy life…
edit: and also never went to the gym…

With a sample size of 8 billion, sure
Eighteen year olds in my country
I’ve done this for half my life and am still considered a hottie
Sure, but they’re probably not going to look very healthy as they age.
Young people, but it eventually takes a toll.
Loads of people do.
I’d even argue that the existence of those people is what influences everyone else to engage in these unhealthy behaviours, thinking “I’ll be fine”.
Are there people who look healthy and do all these things? Sure. But looking healthy and actually being healthy are two different things.
Yes.
The French
until they are young. nobody 45+ looks good if they are heavy drinkers or smokers..
my husband. mother fucker had the lifestyle of alcoholic racoon. he’s 83 and still in decent health. he didn’t have any age related health issues till 75. I exhausted myself trying to stay healthy and my heart is already fucked and I’m 52.
Might look healthy from the outside but as someone who works at a transplant institute, I’m sure their lab work and imaging says otherwise
I’ve worked construction long enough to have met people just like this but with 6 pack abs
That’s all about genetics.
There are people that definitely look healthy on the outside but you can’t do all of those things heavily and actually be healthy.
A big part of how we age comes down to our genes
People here are underestimating genetics big time.
As a doctor, i can say this with absolute certainty that young looking parents translate to young looking kids. But the emphasis is on ‘ looking’.
My college roommate. Dude survived on a diet of Taco Bell, bud light, and marijuana for years and looked like a male model.
Screw you Derek.
John daily
Gisele bundchen lived off cigarettes, coffee and pasta everyday until around 2006
Went to Japan and they smoke non-stop and drink liquor like ive never seen. Then crush caffeine and energy drinks to prep for their 60hr work week.
Everyone looks 15 years younger than what they are and there’s literally nobody overweight.
No that’s why eating healthy working out and taking care of yourself actually works. That’s like saying can you take good care of yourself and still be a fat slob one goes hand in hand with the other ffs
Sure, but they’re all under the age of 45. After that, you have the face and body you’ve earned.

My uncle looked fantastic until he got cancer.
He drank like a fish (as does his wife) and they have always been the life of the party. he was a big cyclist, rode his bike everywhere. Even rode from Tennessee to central Illinois to visit us while his wife and daughter drove. First thing he asked for was a whiskey when he walked in the door in his spandex. He was in his late 50s, fit and tan.
Then after he was diagnosed, he went through chemo, stopped drinking and biking because he was too weak. Hes finally in remission. He still looks pretty good but you can tell the treatment took its toll on him.
Don’t forget sun worshippers. The sun ages the skin so much.

Looking healthy and being healthy can be very far apart from each other.
Me my freshman year of college. It helped that I was also doing a club sport and went to the gym 4 days a week in addition to that but all I did was smoke drink and eat like shit. Wasn’t as big on the energy drinks but I did a good bit of coke if that counts
Very very possible to stay healthy in the short term it just takes a decent bit of work and being young and already being in really good shape to begin with.
Turns out it very quickly caught up with me, especially once covid hit and the gym was closed and I want playing sports and was fucked up by 10 am most days
There are still some people who just get incredibly lucky with genetics; I’ve known a few people who smoked and drank heavily, ate terribly, and never exercised who lived long lives. Others who did everything right and didn’t hit 60. It’s very rare but sometimes it’s just luck.
Another great example is a family I knew of 4 sisters. Three of them did all the ‘bad’ things and made it to their early to mid 80s. The one who lived by the book healthily made it to 102, while their mother made it to 96 living a similar way. So you can look at it like this:
If you’re blessed with one in a million genes, you should live a long life regardless. Unfavorable genes and you won’t get that long. But regardless of which you have, you can extend it by living well. The person I knew who didn’t make it to 60 might’ve only made it to 30 if they’d lived unhealthily, while the sister with the great genetics got an extra 20 years by living well.
Either way, it’s worth it to maximise your chances regardless of how lucky you got with your genes.
You basically just typed out my daily routine. I do literally all of these things consistently, including not going to the gym, and I’d say i look pretty good. Probably won’t look so great in a few years time though so I’m just riding that wave. YOLO or something like that.
I’m 31, nearly 32. This is basically my lifestyle and I got asked for ID for a razor yesterday
People can absolutely look healthy but actually have terrible health – sky high BP, messed up cholesterol etc. Conversely, people can be overweight or appear unhealthy and yet have great numbers. It’s less common, but it happens.
Yes. Genetics are a huge factor in how our bodies can withstand the onslaught of chemicals and trauma we put them through. I have a friend who works in construction. He smokes like a chimney, drinks alcohol daily, eats like shit, but his blood work looks perfectly fine. Now he may get lung cancer, and smoking surely increases the chances of that happening. But as of now, his body has shown minimal bad effects. But as his body ages, that may not be the case and he may hit an age where he experiences frequent health issues due to his bad habits.

One of the Rolling Stones (or 2) they have given that up now!
People in their 20’s
I’m on adderall, weed, coffee, nicotine and a high sugar diet. Obviously this is damaging my body, but I’m honestly in the best shape of my life.
Erm, I know men who eat junk food, drink every day, smoke, or vape excessively and still look very young their age. Still rocking a six-pack and a V. However, they are physically weak, skip meals frequently, and have no energy.
The problem is that people think that if you eat healthy and are healthy, you automatically live longer but it has more to do with genes there are people who smoke and also drink that live to 100 there’s a new support on a woman who drank Dr Pepper every day for almost 80 years or something
My dad smoked for 2/3 of his life, refused to switch to diet Mountain Dew, and had a shit diet for at least 2 decades. He barely had 5 sips of alcohol in those 2 decades. He died at 63 from pancreatic cancer. I wouldn’t push your luck.
30 year old me. I don’t do any of that anymore. I also look less healthy…maybe I should start again.
The more physically active I am the more fast food I eat. It’s often the easiest way to get calories I need when I’m doing a lot of outdoor rec, and I’ll still be smoking, drinking, and consuming energy drinks.
Keith Richards.
I think it depends on the reasons for the smoking heavily and drinking etc. I think the French are a good example because it’s so culturally normalized to drink almost if not everyday and smoke cigarettes, people who have healthy lifestyles in other departments and live relatively stress free lives like this and you can tell.
They do not eat fast food frequently on average or energy drinks, but many espressos which caffeine wise is sure to take a similar toll.
Time and time again studies have revealed that stress is the number one indicator of aging prematurely, cancer, and a myriad other ailments that plague us and make us ill. Most of the behaviors you’ve listed are coping mechanisms for a high stress life, and so to say these coping mechanisms are the cause of the aging is to miss the plot.
Think about it, energy drinks are abused by folks who don’t get enough sleep and fast food is typically consumed in surplus by the poor and those who can’t afford to eat healthier time wise or because they live in a nutrition desert (forgot the proper term).
But I’d wager to say that if you took a very healthy, mentally and physically, person and prescribed them all that shit, they’d end up not so healthy!
Yea my uncle…. He is 67 has no health issues and goes to the Dr regularly….. He looks 28 on a bad day….
All you can do is laugh
Yes. Genetics.
Initially yes, but all of that combined will lead to an early death.
Most people in the military
There are A LOT of people like this.
Omg, me
Plot twist…my dad was a construction worker so always had a fantastic tan..looked great but he had stage 4 lung cancer you just couldn’t tell how sick he was cuz he looked great for 52
