Just learned this from my fiance during our call with the DJ – based on the lyrics, I find this odd even if the songwriter wrote it for his mother. I was also never told this info prior to the call. If it provides any additional context, the version FMIL picked is by Lauren Daigle and our first dance song is a thousand years.

No. That’s the song the bride and groom dance to. It’s pretty icky for a mother/son dance.
No. It’s more of a bride and groom song
Ewwwwwwww…I would be so grossed out watching a mother/son dance to this song. 🤢
Ewwwwwwwww
If your fiancé doesn’t get it show him how commenters felt about it. Then imagine all your friends and family getting collective ick
My aunt walked down the aisle to her husband to this song. If I saw a mom and son dance to this I would projectile vomit
Like…from the Little Rascals? That the kid sings to his crush? 🤢
I will always picture Alfalfa singing this to Darla when I hear it
Tbh people might think the DJ played the wrong track that song is so inappropriate
Aw your first dance was my first dance song too! Yea, I get a song change for the mother/son dance, I don’t care what the original song was written for. At a wedding, it is a love song. That’s how it’s used. There are plenty of songs of other songs that can be used.
Tell her she can choose it if she’s ok with everyone gossiping for years about how she wants to bang her son.😂😂😂
It’s such a simple song and applicable to any kind of loving relationship. A lot of people think of their parents or children with this song. I think if your fiancé chose it, you should let him use it.
Not over reacting. I’m a fan of Joe Cocker, who covered this song. And I love his version, but just imagine the reaction if this song was played for the bride/father of bride dance….why would it be different for the groom/MOG dance?
Big eeeewwww.
If it makes you uncomfortable maybe ask him why he picked that song specifically?
My husband’s Mother/Son dance song was Angel by Shaggy which I thought was an odd choice until hubby explained why he picked it.
I sing this song (poorly) to my dog all the time. That said, it’s considered an iconic romantic ballad so it is a little odd to dance to with your mother..
Well, I think Little Rascals, so it just feels like a sweet little kids song to me. I can definitely imagine singing it to my babies without it being weird.
“you’re everything I hoped for, you’re everything I need”. nope. Appropriate for newlywed dance, NOT mother/son. if they go thru with it, everyone will be thinking “ewwwww”. Trust me on this.
That song is all kindsn
