Location: Florida. I am being charged $450 from my ISP for a service call due to cut fiber optic.
Background: I called 811 for a new fence install for April 9. Everyone but my ISP responded in the allowable timeline, but they gave clearance over one month from the 811 request (on 5/15). I did the install 1 week after receiving clearance from them, and the fiber was cut.
I have called the ISP and collection company, they are reviewing the 811 report. The initial person I talked with stated the 811 is only good for 30 days so they state I would have needed to get another 811 request. However, I have documented proof the ISP gave clearance on 5/15 well past the supposed 30 day cut off. I have been a long time customer of the ISP I’ve been surprised they haven’t just dropped the charge as I pay them almost $100/month for my services. If it comes down to them upholding the fee, and I refuse to pay, will I need to take them to small claims court? Will they be able to put a lien on my property for the unpaid service charge?
Thanks
