Its a good thing that people aren’t publicly confronting others

r/

Most public confrontations lead to fights, most non confrontations resolve it through dialogue. People who call for people to start being publicly ostracized again are indirectly supporting violence since you dont know how people will act when called out publicly which is why its best to do it privately.

These redditors ain’t calling anyone out. Just complaining in a post about how annoyed they get, but don’t tell the person who is annoying them

I mean, yeah. But it’s a lot easier to be an asshole behind a screen, not just because you can avoid physical confrontation, but it takes a little more to be a dick/hurt someone’s feelings when you’re right in front of them. All of the shittiness and general hostility in online discourse has fundamentally reshaped our society for the worse.

No one is saying that it is a bad thing that people don’t start fights in public.

Most confrontations don’t lead to fights. They can, but is pretty rare when alcohol isn’t involved.
