Pretty much as the title says, sometimes you want a coffee that’s more desert that coffee that you can’t make at home. So you go out and order than long coffee and everyone gets huffy about it. Speaking as someone who has made long complicated coffees and orders when working in fast food, I didn’t mind at all. The key thing is to be polite when asking for it, and to be understanding if there is a mistake with it. But yes, ordering long complicated coffee or whatever else you want is not rude.
Edit: I feel I should address this, I am not talking about ordering off Menu. I’m talking about ordering a menu item and adding things to it.
I will also rephrase what I said about getting mad. Yeah, it’s okay to be mad or frustrated, but it’s not okay to be rude or volatile. Be polite.

Since when is ordering something on the menu rude lol
No one is saying that it isn’t.
What about when I order a large regular (1c, 1s) and they bungle that up?
Can I get mad then?
Is that unpopular? Yeah, it’s dumb and obnoxious to order some TikTok trens coffee you saw. But not that obnoxious. And if an employee doesn’t like it, well, they can get over it. Just do your job.
Technically speaking yeah, if they offer it then you’re ok to order it.
But having worked in food service myself and knowing how annoying it is to deal with complicated orders, I make an effort to make my orders as simple as possible while still satisfying what I want.
Plus people get too picky with coffee. Keep it simple, it’s better that way.
Not rude, just annoying.
Outta my way barista. I’ll make it myself. 😳
The wife and I have very different styles (probably typical gender divide).. she has a customization(s) for literally everything. coffee, fast food, anything. I get an actual regular old menu item.
Mine are always right; hers are often not. I used to point out that customizations are ripe for mistakes but now I just nod knowingly when she complains. again. lololol
Well are you ordering a long complicated coffee from a coffee store, or from a diner. Because it matters.
If it’s a coffee shop they should be used to weird orders and they shouldn’t screw it up, because again, coffee shop.
Making mistakes should not be normalized.
This isn’t unpopular though.
Never worked in customer service I see OP
Yes if its available on the menu. But when it’s an order they’ve seen on social media that isn’t actually on the menu, and the worker has to do some long roundabout way on the till to put that order through, I can understand why it is frustrating for the workers, especially if it’s a busy time.
umm wierd one, breaking it down: making complicated order – if they offer it it’s fine to order (popular); beeing nice while ordering – common sense (popular); not complaining if it’s wrong – if the order is wrong hell yeah I’m complaining (unpopular)
I hate it when people do this.

Just ask for a menu item with extra sugar
I prefer to wait to pay for my coffee until it’s made, but actually I’m only pretending so I can steal the coffee and get it for free. This is the popular way to acquire complicated coffee, so yours is truly an unpopular opinion
If you’re hooking me up with extras for free, then you might get a pass for getting it wrong.
If its possible to order than I expect no mistakes. If its annoying and always messed up TAKE IT OFF THE MENU.
It’s very annoying when I am in line behind that order and all I want is a drip coffee.
Honestly I think you should just warn them it’s a big order before telling them.
