I (34M) decided to quit drinking alcohol 10 months ago after a few awakening moments. I was a severe alcoholic who never came to terms with it. I decided it would be best to also give up social media at the same time. It’s been a long journey but with time everything has gotten better and it seems my whole life has turned around in a positive way. Here to answer questions and help people who might be thinking of doing the same.
I’ve been sober for 10 months and free from social media the same amount of time. AMA.

Reddit isn’t social media?

How do you deal with making non drinking friends or trying not to drink with friends who drink and encourage you to drink.
How would you describe the ways in which your life has turned around in a positive way? How long did it take until you started to feel that way long term?
Congratulations, also. Not an easy accomplishment! 10 months is incredible.
Do you get FOMO? I wanna quit casually drinking as much, any tips! Congrats bro
How long were you an alcoholic? What did you drink? Did you have medical intervention or did you do it on your own?
Congratulations on overcoming your addiction 🙂
How did you start? I can’t even go one day. Drink at least two bottles of wine a night, more if I start earlier.
Best upsides in being free from social media? Any tips on how someone can break their addiction in that affair?
I absolutely agree with everything you are saying. I think we were similar in consumption and symptoms. I’m a little over 6 months sober and it really does get better. Congratulations and good luck on your journey.
Did you find the ways it changed you as a person when drinking always felt like something you couldn’t control? What did it feel like to be actually able to change?
Also, did you have any odd drinking quirks or behaviour, ways you did certain things when you drank?
