Just wanted to vent. I’ve always been what is probably called ‘skinny fat’ (well maybe not ‘skinny’ but y’all get me) around 140lbs but not in great shape.
I turned 30 last April and I’m 30 lbs up and I swear it’s just abdominal and hip fat! I’m not on any real medication except obvious birth control, I don’t eat great, but not terrible and don’t drink more than the average gal. Is it just metabolism? SO pissed lol. None of my clothes fit or if they do, they look crap. Sadly I can’t even blame it on a thyroid problem or anything.

Do you move less than you used to?
Hello this is also me. I’m reaching 30 and have had to chuck out all my old clothes I wore not even a year ago. My hips have widened, gotten more fat around hips and tummy too. My only thoughts is that my body is preparing to have a baby that isn’t even coming lol.
I’m sure it didn’t happen overnight.
Yes metabolism slows as one ages, but gaining 30lbs in a year shouldn’t be a surprise.
That’s a lot to gain in a year with no cause, if it was less then I’d presume it was just metabolism. Have you really not changed your diet or how active you are? Do you have any record of what you might eat on a regular day a year ago compared to today?
How much is the average gal drinking?
Not eating a healthy diet and lack of exercise always catches up with those who don’t eventually. Your metabolism gets worse as you age.
I eat v healthy, exercise 4-5 times a week and drink on average once a month. I am 118 lbs at 5’6.
I was the same as you 4 years ago though, heaviest at 154 lbs. This was because of a bad diet and lack of exercise.
Making the change improved my life substantially.
I’m with you! I’m 32 and I feel like I went from 125 to 160 real quick without really changing anything. I do have a sedentary job but I’m still pretty active. And I thought I was eating mostly healthy but enjoyed regular treats like ice cream. I know the body changes but it’s frustrating when it feels like it happens quick and you have to change your whole wardrobe because nothing fits right. Recently, I started exercising 5 days a week and working with a dietitian to learn what and when to eat. Hoping to see results from it!
