I’ve noticed my generation are worse than the parents they complain about

r/

I feel like my whole generation is cooked. We went so far into “my feelings matter” that everyone is a damn narcissist. I know multiple people my age who’ve had their kids taken away and still party, sleep around, and have more kids. I know girls who do TikTok and only fans and leave their kids alone for hours talking to strangers on Xbox because they have no real friends because they’re “homeschooled”. They’re also not hitting their developmental milestones because the parents say they’re “autistic” but it seems to be like they’re just neglected.
I haven’t seen these people for a while since I’ve left my hometown but I just find it ironic how much they complain about everything their parents put them through and now they “my feelings matter/ I am enough” so much that they never stop to self reflect and prioritize their kids’ lives. I’m worried my generation is going to end up so much worse than our parents.

I could not agree with you more. Say it louder for the people glued to their phones and walking into shit. Or the people so entitled that they’re delusional.

I’d say it will probably only get worse with time. Unless something drastic happens.

And in the 1950s dad had a second family, a raging cocaine addiction and hit his wife who was blasted out of her mind on Quaaludes while the kids played with sticks by a dump.

This isn’t like a new thing, you’re just seeing it more. This is the first era in history (since like ‘09 ish) where the every day common person’s life is documented in great detail. You’re getting a peek into people’s lives that you would have never seen 50 years ago. You never would have seen the housewife who was out of her gourd on drugs, or the dad who was screaming and throwing shit.

This generation is very weak minded. Everyone’s feelings has to be taken care of and so you got the participation trophies to push everyone forward. Shows that real work ethic doesn’t matter because everyone is a “winner.” Then standards in schools with grades has been lowered so much because… “little Billy will feel bad if he fails.” He probably deserved it.

But since that’s the upcoming generation and seeing what’s coming up behind it…

In the wise words of Chuckie Finster…

    We’re Doomed

Sounds to me like you have terrible friends. That doesn’t account for everyone. I know adults who had parents that treated them horribly, and now they “my feelings matter/I am enough” while also taking their kids lives seriously and making sure their kids know their feelings matter and they are enough too. The people you are talking about are not indicative of everyone. Don’t just see them and have a reactionary response.

I’m 35 and it’s sad to see my friends children all addicted to iPads cus they thought they were helping them out by giving them “educational” content.

What’s your statistical sample size? You don’t tell which age group you’re talking about. You probably know that people from wildly different horizons can read on the Internet, right 🙂
