Hey, not mentioning names, but I’ve observed that when a certain somebody is president, men feel like they can say things like, “Hey, we would make gorgeous Aryan babies together” or discuss how much they love how “white and pure” my skin looks. This happened when this individual was president several years ago, then stopped when somebody else was president, and it’s happening again now that they are the president for a second time. How odd.
But seriously, I get that I look like an off-brand Fox News host, and that apparently makes people feel very comfortable being racist around me. I feel like I have to be so on guard and make it clear that these comments are disgusting. Gross.
I guess I was incredibly sheltered. I never realized how many racist people existed and I probably still don’t.

It’s really strange how some folks feel like they can say whatever they want when certain people are in charge… but I guess it’s not surprising, considering how things have been going. Still, I admire you for speaking up about it and pushing back against that kind of behavior, it’s not easy to stand your ground like that.
In addition to vile misogynistic speech, republican supporters feel emboldened to spew vile racist, homophobic, and transphobic speech, too.
There was this one panel comic of how there were people of different political leaning all thinking the same thing. “I can’t wait for my people to be in power and then we will make changes”. It tells a lot about not just people are the same but also that they are emboldened by their ideology winning or being in power. We are seeing exactly that and will keep seeing it. It is the reason why we need to put more effort as citizens first and political leaning group later.
They do seem particularly inspired when he’s in charge, even outside of the US. It makes more sense to me that men in American who voted for him because they’re racists are emboldened by enough people not seeing that as disqualifying that they think more people actually agree with them than do. I’m not sure why it has the same impact in places where literally no one had any say in who won the US elections and most people mock him though…
I’ve also noticed that during this presidency I get way more creepy comments. I’m petite and often get mistaken for being under aged and the amount of men that are comfortable with pointing that out as “you could be my daughter” or “you look like a little girl” have increased a noticeable amount.
Guess all manner of disgusting men feel empowered by one of their own in the White House. A White supremacist, rapist and pedophile.
It’s not just men. This person has emboldened people to take the mask off and speak vile things on a whole matter of subjects
