Over 20 years ago, much of my late mother’s jewelry was stolen. Much was photographed when first insuranced.
Reported to police and insurance.
Person who stole never found and never recovered jewelry. I don’t know the police report number or insurance information or how to find it. I can ask my brother for help but he’s handicapped and gets confused sometimes.
I inherited all my mother’s jewelry per her will. Now, over 20 years later, I recognize three of her pieces at auction. How do I quickly claim it and find out how to back that up?
Location: Event was in Tennessee, I am in Texas

Contact the auction house and let them know that you believe this is your stolen goods. Tell them that you want them to pause the sale, or remove them altogether from auction. You probably need to provide proof. Do you have any of the photos? Any insurance information? You could file a new police report where you also reference the previous report.
