Just because something is legal, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s right

r/

An example in my case is being forced to stand all day at work behind my register for hours and not being allowed to sit down for even 5 minutes, or unable to have any breaks because nobody is available to replace me for 10 minutes.

Labor laws say it’s ok, but is it really?

Note: Not sure if unpopular or not, but in my experience everyone seems to take the side of the law on this one.

It’s also legal to walk by someone drowning in a kiddie pool and not do anything.

I don’t think this is unpopular.

What state? Most require a 10 minute break per 4 hours of work, if you work 5 or more hours you are entitled to a 30 min unpaid lunch break.

So you get no breaks? None. Not even a lunch?

Listen I get that there is no reason they shouldn’t let people at a register sit there. That is one issue. But saying that it isn’t right you stand for your job is stupid.

It is what they pay you to do. It’s not even that hard unless you are disabled and then they are legally required to let you sit.

People stand all day for their jobs lots of places, or do more than that. The stupidity isn’t that it’s not right. It’s that it’s not necessary.
