Just good vibes for a lovely pallete cleanser

r/

Recently listened to the newest episode & loved the sweet end, pallete cleanser good vibes it had & thought I would add one here for you guys incase you’re in need for one in the future or even not & people browsing here need it today. Not particularly short because I’m a talker!
They have really helped me recently with my own big sad feelings this past year & it’s a silly thing but maybe it will make someone think “that’s so sweet” or whatever & smile!
Alright here we go! So I never got to say thank you for this, like a real, years later this is how what you did impacted the trajectory of my life mybself esteem & my skills as an artist thank you to my second ever non-school affiliated art teacher, as a kid who loves art this is a BIG thing okay! Anyways to Ms. Courtney I know you are probably not a social app or reddit user at all but if this some how found you it would mean the world to me that it did.
I was 10 & in another art class at the community center (& so sorry I don’t remember your name sir & truly this thank you really is for you too because you spear headed this moment) but I was having so much fun I took his class three times back to back it was like the span of 3 months I think? And did so even though it was the same lesson over & over, which also thank you mom but I tell you that all the time lol. The third time you refused payment from my mom cause ‘I’m not teaching her anything new so it doesn’t seem right’ which honestly so beautiful too anyways though, during that class you went to Ms. Courtney and told her I HAD to be in her class.
The thing is she never takes on kids not even teens it was her 1 big NO, because kids just weren’t her thing I think is why. Plus she taught advanced beyond children skill type classes only. Well you showed her my art work from your first class & second, was a huge improvement not to toot my own horn all allowed adults said so!! Anyways she came to one of your lessons to watch me & she SAW something in me because she went to my mom & said “sign her up for my next class”
Now here’s where I gotta try not to cry so sorry Morgan & Lauren if you’re there cause I feel like you might tear up a bit if you’re in an emotional mood today cause usually I always also tear up when you guys do haha.
I was so excited as a kid to have another class and learn new things! I didn’t realize HOW BIG this really was yet cause they didn’t tell me any of that yet! But yeah do I went to that first class & she didn’t initially engage a terrible amount directly with me but really she didn’t with too many others on the art side of things unkess they were repeat students I think it was her teaching way ans I was a kid I didn’t have much to contribute to their adult talks (nothing inappropriate! I just didn’t work or cook for my family or have a husband kids obviously haha)
But after that class she asked if I wanted to try her painting class I took that one 3 times. I think it was somewhere around my 4th class with her pastels class that I was asking her opinion on how to do something & she said “wow you’ve really gotten good this past year I’m sad I’m moving soon & only have 1 more class for you to attend. It’s been a pleasure to watch your skills grow.” & guys if I was a cartoon character I would have had teary star eyes & I was like “really you mean it!”Like every typical kid too!
That’s when she told me all about not liking kids, not that she hated then just you know kids aren’t everyone’s thing but that she saw something in me and decided “why not”. Yes I did say thank you then, of course I did but like that self esteem boost never faded I always look back on that time & that day. It really solidified in me that drawing was what I was MEANT to do & drawing would always be in my life even if I lost my hands in a tragic accident I would find a way to always do something artistic.
I did do this after-school program for a bit before I got full time at my retail job doing that & it was really fun. Had one kid come back after winter break waving his sketchbook in hand & showed me every single picture he drew everyday because I had said “drawing once a day isn’t always possible but if you can do it you’ll get as good as me before you know it” to the class (something another teacher once said to me) his mom said every day since he got it under the tree from Santa he would not stop talking about how he was going to show me every picture! & guys he really was good he was only 5 but kid was drawing about as good as I was at 8! Which I told him he was speechless at that.. I miss that kid & sad I moved from that area & can’t do that job again to see how good he is now 5 years later! Hey maybe in 20 years he will be making a similar post here on reddit!
Hope this was a good one for a pallete cleanser to your day everybody, & with an added bonus! Sometimes I get talking & I just go on tangents (& run on sentences… lol) sorry for any grammaer errors it was my wprst subject honestly, & for any typos. I got big thumbs & tend to have a lot. If anyone wants to respond Maybe we can make it a shout the thank you into the void thing?? Who are you guys all thankful for in your youth or shoot even today that you feel had a big impact on where you stand today as a person, or just life in general or with your skills?
