Hello everyone, 19yo college student. I just got kicked out the house for switching college majors. I was pursuing nursing my freshman year but realized I don’t wanna do it for the rest of my life, and found interest in accounting. My mother paid a lot of money for my tuition and invested into me but I’m only a freshman and I think if anytime is a time to change it should be now. Tried to apologize and look at it from her point of view and talked to her about just continuing anyway to please her but she refused and is currently kicking me out as we speak. is this deserved? I understand I did waste a lot of her money but I took a lot of courses and will still graduate on time, I have a 4.0gpa and don’t cause any problems. Have a part time job also. Overall I’m fine and I will be fine I will just do CC, try to get an internship, and transfer to a four year. Luckily I have a lot of money saved and invested that I can take out as I pay for college, and I’m moving in with another family member who lives close by. Just wanted advice on the situation
Kicked out for switching Major

Getting kicked out for choosing your own future is harsh not justice. You didn’t throw your life away you took control stayed top of your class and made a smart pivot before it was too late.
That’s a brutal overreaction for choosing your own future and you’re not a puppet. Stick to your plan, prove them wrong with your 4.0 grit and let success be the loudest I told you so.
What you are going through is very very normal for people in college. You come in thinking you want to do one thing, and a lot of people end up deciding they want to do something else. This should be a time in your life where you’re free to explore.
You have not “wasted” a dime of your mom’s money. This is absolutely not deserved.
Many go to college with a declared major and graduate with something else entirely. The undergrad years are the best time to make the change. Personally, I think she’s way overreacting. You sound like an incredible, responsible kid (great grades, job, money saved) and have preemptively earned of a bit of slack here, imo. No advice other than to stay the course on your schooling.
“Overall I’m fine and I will be fine”
I love this part of it. You are already more of an adult than many much older adults.
You’re only a freshman. Surely any class you’ve taken thus far is the compulsory core curriculum, applicable to ANY major.
