Landlord charging $1500 to repaint after renting for 3 years

r/

Location: Florida

Just moved out of our rental in Florida and got a bill for nearly $1600 for repainting the interior. We lived in that house for 3 years and i find it very hard to believe that it isn’t chalked up to normal wear and tear.

All holes from shelves and hanging photos were patched.

Just wondering if it’s worth fighting or telling them to kick rocks since they’ve already decided to keep our deposit.

Also we paid a $600 non refundable pet deposit on top of the first ($2200), last($2200) and deposit ($2200) when we moved in totaling $7,200.

Worth fighting. They are trying to extend their normal maintenence costs onto you.

Is there anything written in your lease saying the landlord can charge a reasonable amount to repaint upon you you’re vacating the premises? The 600 is gone for the pet deposit so I wouldn’t even mention that. First and last month’s rent is a wash too. The security deposit could easily be filled with just fixing random stuff around the house.
