I’ve been trying to get my ex-husband to stop claiming our child on taxes during “my years”, and update child support. He makes 6 figures a year, i’m a stay at home mom. He has paid $8 a week sporadically for the past 6 years.
We paid our lawyer $3k 18 months ago when we started this process. My ex and his lawyer have drawn this out without reason. I asked my lawyer that we request my ex pay half my legal fees as well because this is feels like bad faith. We agreed on the amount he needs to pay and what year he had to amend his taxes for, hes just responding through his lawyer that he is “financially infertile”.
He rents out our marital home for 3x what our mortgage was and lives with his GF.
MY lawyer is saying we cant ask for legal fees because we didn’t ask for them in the first place. I didn’t want them until I realized I had to start writing more checks to my lawyer just to get my ex to comply!
What can I do?
