This is kind of a 2-parter, so I’ll keep it brief:
I have a friend 30s/m who caught his brother 30s/m stealing weed from his room, and physically beat him leaving marks, but no hospital needed. My friend then moved out and left Missouri to live in California, and he just found out his brother has now filed felony assault charges in Missouri.
My friend has a clean record with only a few driving infractions from 5+ years ago.
His brother is learning disabled and it was noted in the warrant.
What I’m wondering is
1) Can my friend just lay low in California and continue his career and relationship? Or should he honestly give up, go back, and face the music?
2) Is there a route for my friend to accept the charge, but also avoid jail, be it community service or otherwise?
