Short form music leaves more space for commercial abuse of ones attention while longer form music demands artistic expression and a level of confidence in the craft of songwriting it almost assures longer form music has more artistic value. Not shitting on all of shorter music, but once a song ranges about 6-7 minutes, i.e. radio unfriendly, there has to be an explicit thought behind it from the artist that isn’t commercial.

There is no correlation between song length and artistic expression. I say this as a Dream Theater fan, longer does not always mean better.
