Looking for some content to improve my Spanish level

r/

Hi everyone,

I’m currently at a B2 to C1 level in Spanish, but I feel like it’s getting a bit difficult for me to find new material to improve my level.

I’m mostly searching for 2 types of content.
On the one hand, I’m used to keep up with international news and geopolitics on a daily basis (ex: DW Documental, BBC Mundo) so it would be interesting for me to discover other Spanish-speaking news channels which would allow me to do so. Even “political influencers” can be an interesting option.

On the other hand, I also like to watch entertaining content from time to time – whether it’s YouTube channels (ex: enchufetv) or movies & series – because I got to learn a ton of useful idiomatic expressions and vocabulary that way!

Anyway, what would you recommend me at this point? Any kind of suggestion would be much appreciated. Thank you for your attention.

Regarding polítics i like descifrando la guerra. They are a tiny media that work on Twitter and twitch but they are probably the most serious analising international affairs in Spain. Prepare yourself for spanish from spain though.

As you have said political influencers you can fully go to Julián macias. He works under the name pandemia digital and he is probably one of our more serious debunkers of fake news, a thing always needed.

If you are REALLY interested in spanish polítics and the spanish legal system you can go to Cristóbal gazquez. He is a lawyer that analizes the news to extract the laws behind. Legit serious in his analizis but he can use very informal language. He streams on Twitch

Regarding humour I can recomend hora veintipico, la vida moderna (sadly not in Air anymore) and la revuelta. Hora veintipico and la vida moderna are on YouTube while la revuelta is on RTVE

La pulla is great for political commentary, fairly biased, but at least they wear it on their sleeve, so you know what you’re getting into. It might be a little hard to understand.

For general knowledge and interesting subjects but a bit too focused on Colombia I’d recommend Magic markers. It’s explanation/edutainment.

For travel content Planeta Juan is decent who is Colombian. And the behemoth that is Luisito comunica who is Mexican, but I don’t actually like his content.

There’s a youtuber I don’t really like, but he does… “Bizarre Colombian” content. He is from a very working class area of Bogotá and speaks in the infamous “lower class Bogotano accent” which could be interesting if you’re learning, but expect tons of slang. His YouTube channel is “Sin rol específico”.

And another one I followed for a couple of months was “Sinpuntocom” a venezuelan living in Argentina. His series about his immigration journey is very interesting.

If you play video games, play them in spanish. It’s a great way to practice hearing and reading it.
